Well I convinced myself to go out and buy RTW BI. Any recommendations on what faction to use first or should I just beat the jullii (if its in there, havn't installed it yet)(dont have the time) Well class is starting bye

If you want to learn more about the wonderful world of R:TW BI then there is a great article on Wikipedia. It can be found here (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rome_Total_War:_Barbarian_Invasion).

May I suggest that you try the almighty Huns first. They are a nice easy starter faction, especially if you love cavalry, and are quite fun too. They also can get rich quickly from sacking settlements.

BTW, the Julii sadly aren't in it. Their "heir" as you might put it - ie. controlling the territory they control - is the Western Roman Empire. As for the Brutii the "heirs" to the land that they control is the Eastern Roman Empire. The Scipii's lands are also controlled by the Western Roman empire.

The Huns are indeed a good starting faction, and their starting position, while it may seem somewhat far away, permits you to either directly attack the Eastern Roman Empire, or the barbarian tribes east of the Rhine.
Playing another faction however, you must keep in mind that the course the AI chooses for the Hordes changes each game. So you might play the Saxons, and have a really easy time because of the lack of enemies. Play the Goths, and you're almost assured of being attacked in the first ten turns.

I'd say the Saxons. They arent difficult and it shows you all the new mechanics of BI without hitting you with the hordes early on. Stuff like shield wall, religion and emerging factions. Then once youve played that campaign, id suggest something in central europe or the east, so you get to grips with the hordes, which i still have limitless amounts of trouble with!

It all depends on your taste; I love playing the Saxons, but then, I love that history. I also like elite infantry, so it was an obvious choice for me.

Allemani are also not a bad starting choice.

I tried the Huns, but found their style just wasn't for me.....I lost track of who was where on the battlefields, and got far more of my troops killed than I should have :(
