View Full Version : Unpacker is not working!
I downloaded this 1.1 pack and tried to use the unpack_all program, but it keeps saying it's being used by another program. Somebody help! This is driving me crazy.
Plus, the actual game is working fine.
thanks guys

thanks guysSome quick things I can think of that could cause this:
1. You are running the game when you try to unpack things. If so, don't! It would probably cause weirdness like you're talking about.
2. You have a virus checker running that scans the unpack_all file when you run it. This seems unlikely, but I suppose it's possible the program could be tied up by a virus check and so refuse to run. Try disabling any virus checkers you run.
3. The file is being used by some virus or something that you just don't know about. That is, something unknown is using the file for something, and thus causing this conflict. Scan it for viruses I suppose. Sounds like a long shot.
4. Somehow the patch installation failed, so your unpacker file is stuck flagged as being accessed by the patching program. For this I would recommend removing the patch and reinstalling it. Failing that (I don't know if the patch can be uninstalled) you can try simply running the patch again and then unpacking, or in the extreme case wiping out the entire game install, reinstalling, patching, then trying to unpack.
That's all I've come up with for now, but I'll keep you posted if I think of any more.
Okay,
(1.) I'm smart enough to know not to run the game while messing with mod files. I'm not a mood at this stuff, that's why this is so frustrating.
(2.) I'll check my virus scanner...
(3.) I'll scan for viruses before I do number 2.
(4.) I've already done the extreme of uninstalling the entire game and reinstalling everything back. That didn't help.
Thanks, keep them coming, I'll update later.

Lol! I would've guessed as much, but it never hurts to say the obvious. I guess I've just done too much tech support to assume anyone ever knows anything that seems obvious. Oh the dreadful things I've seen and heard... :dizzy2:
So it's nothing personal, just my warped perspective on life hard at work, as always!
(2) Did a full system scan last night. It's clean.
(3) I also turned it off afterwards and still it didn't work.
There's a reason for every computer program error, but this one just doesn't seem to have any connections. Please keep thinking.
