Is there anyway to remove just the year requirment of the roman reforms
I'm not sure we kept in a year requirement for any of the three reforms...I'd have to check. They are based on dynamic factors, though, so it isn't just a year (if there is such a requirement any longer).

Polybian is still 242BC.
Marian is still 172BC.
Imperial has been moved to 147BC.
To change them yourself you have to edit the "....Rome - Total War\EB\Data\scripts\show_me\EBBS_SCRIPT.txt". Roman reforms are in the "1c" section. Find the area that says "and I_TurnNumber > 120" and change that number to the turn you want the reforms that be possible in (remembering that there are 4 turns per year counting down from 272). Or to remove the year required entirely, place a ";" as the first character in the line so it looks like this:
;and I_TurnNumber > 120
So, no dynamic reforms then?

No, they are dynamic, that is just the minimum year.

From the faq:
Q: Which factions have reforms, and when do they take place?
A: There are 4 factions which have refom:
Romans: 3
Polybian
at least year 242, either hold 2 of these cities (Segesta, Mediolanum, Patavium, Bononia) AND 2 of these (Lilibeo, Messana, Syracuse) OR wait until 210BC
You get the new units after upgrading your Mic's. In settlements you don't upgrade you keep your old camillan units, and you are still able to retrain your old veterans.
Marian
At least year 172BC, have 6 Latifundia built, hold at least 45 settlements, fight more than 250 battles and have a character that is:
Intelligent/Charismatic/Vigorous
Popularis
Consul or Ex-Consul
Has Influence and Command > 2
OR just conquer 90 settlements.
Augustian
At least year 152BC, hold 90 settlements, have at least 45 type2 settlements, fight 400 battles, and a general that is:
Intelligent/Charismatic/Vigorous
At least Skilled Bureaucrat
At least Arrogans
At least Expert Recruiter
Can't be Selfless
If these conditions are met, the general will receive a trait telling he wants to seize power. Make him the Faction Heir and as soon as he becomes the leader the reforms will happen.
Do the reforms happen if the historical year for them arrives?
Yes, if you have met the other requirements
Edit: srr, read your question too fast...
But uhm if it reaches the historical year, it will be triggered . But if the Romani doesn't upgrade their mics,
they won't be able to recruit polybian troops.
Yes, if you have met the other requirements
I think one misunderstood the other. If say 210 comes and passes, will the AI still be using camilian units if for some reason they managed to avoid meeting all the conditions required? Or stuck with Polybian when 107 comes?

Yes, the default time will trigger the reform if the complex requirements aren't met. In that, if it comes to 210, the script will check the reform status, if it is still Camilian, it will trigger the reforms without any other input. The question is whether the AI will upgrade its MICs so that they can recruit the unit is a different question.

Polybian reforms are the only ones that happen automatically at a certain date, since they mainly represent the adoption of equippment from neigbouring people and only slight changes in army organization.
Marian reforms won't happen automatically in 107 BC if the other conditons are not met, only when the romans controll 90 provinces or more.
Augustan reforms will never happen automatically.

Regarding the reforms new troops and the need for upgraded mics, do the reforms bring new buildings to be made, or if you already have a type 1 gov and top barracks will that be ok?
Cheers.
I have all the conditions needed for "Marian" Reform except the required Character. I have too many Characters but none of them are "Intelligent/Charismatic/Vigorous" :( I have many with "Sharp/Charismatic/Vigorous" trait. How can I have a character with needed traites? Is there any way to get one?
Thanks beforehand
P.S : Is it possible to remove the condition of Character atleast for "Marian" Reform? I think it's too bad we provide all the conditions except this one which is a not in our hand.(Except you offer a way to easily find such a Character)

You have to upgrade the MIC for the polybian reforms. This is to represent the change in the armies, as this was gradual. It also allows you to not upgrade a certain city and therefore retrain your camilian units as much as you like. The Marian Reforms I think are automatic, and the imperial ones I have no clue.

Sharp in this case is a synonym to Intelligent.

Have the celtic reforms become dynamic, and if so what are the conditions you need for them?
Have the celtic reforms become dynamic, and if so what are the conditions you need for them?
From my read through of the script, they are still year based.
Would the give trait cheat work to obtain consul or not because of eb's different traits, just wondering
thanks

polybian 205BC
shouldn't Marian reform be 106BC
and Imperial around 30BC

Yeah, except do you really want to play from 272 to 30 (upwards 800 turns already) to get the last level of Reforms for Rome? And then have only about 120 turns to play with them? EB is interested in realism, but when it kills the gameplay too much, it's a no-go.
Actually history takes precedence to gameplay pretty much all of the time. As for reform dates, I don't know.

If you build Rome to a huge size earlier than it happened historically, then there will be a need to a new class of troops. Thus you would have the Marian reform triggered earlier. Date alone wasn't the reason for anything in history, so if you reach the esoteric reason that some event happened before it really happened, then you get that event.
And since the game excludes guys like Gaivs Marivs, then it can't happen like it happened anyways.
PS Keep in mind, those dates are the earliest a reform can take place, they don't always happen that year.
