Hi all,
This may be EB specific, or it may be RTW. I'm new to both.
I have started an EB campaign as the Casse. How do I create new trade agreements.
I have my diplomat on the mainland and I visit various cities, but the only option I have available for interaction is "Bribing".
Can someone please walk me through the basics?
EB is fantastic, from what I have seen so far.

You must be talking to independants (grey), you can only make trade deals with other factions. I think Casse starts with trade agreements with both Aedui and Arveni, so you should need to talk to them...

I'm not where I can access the game right now. I have found 4 or 5 towns, but they all seem to be owned by the (forgive the spelling) Eluthoi - and I only have the bribe function available.
I guess I was expecting to find more towns more quickly.
Also, a quesiton about your response. If I already have trade with the two factions you listed, why do I need to talk to them to negotiate trade?
Sorry if I misunderstood you, but that it what I took for you to mean.
So if I find an eligible town/faction and I open a diplomatic conversation with them, one of the options I will have to offer is trade?
Also, I have left my diplomat outside of a number of towns for a turn or three in the hopes that I would get a request from the faction in question - but I have not had a single instance of this happening. Do other factions make offer to your faction?
Thanks
The Eleutheroi are the rebel faction, it means 'free people' and represents all the independent kingdoms and city states that we cannot include. At the moment you are not at war with them but most of the time you will start at war with them (Casse are the exception).
Rebels were never meant to be anything more than blockers between you and proper factions in RTW, so they are no more complex than "bribe or kill". To find a proper faction you will need to get to the mainland, the british isles has no other faction than the Casse.
Foot
Wel the (forgive the spelling) Eluthoi are the same as the rebels in vanila RTW, - in EB they represent the independent states, and factions. But the game views them as the rebels, so you can't, have any diplomaci with them.
You can have diplomatic relations only whit factions in the game view: Romans, Aedui, Ptolemay ......

Ah.
I did not comprehend this. Thanks for the explaination.
Now I will go onward seeking a 'true' faction to trade with.
Thanks!:2thumbsup:

On the contrary, once upon a time, I was playing as the Scipii in vanilla R:TW. Carthage had just been totally destroyed, they had many diplomats, and, as what happens to all factions once they are destroyed, they turned to the rebels. Every turn one of these "rebel " diplomats came to me, asked for a ceasefire, then, after my acceptance, trade rights, then, after that, an alliance. This shocked me immensely, I was allied with the rebel faction? Also I still couldn't cancel my trade rights or my alliance without attacking them or finding some other physical means of cancellation. From this experience I came to the conclusion that the rebels can have diplomacy with you, yet you, unfortunately, cannot have any diplomacy other than bribes with the rebels? Has anybody else had a strange diplomatic trip with the rebels?
I've had ceasefires with the Eleutheroi. Not worth it in my opinion, since it just means you can't attack those rebels that still apear without declaring war.
So I assasinated the diplomat to prevent any other faction using him.
Later in the same campaign (this was .80) Messana rebelled and trained an Eleutheroi diplomat.
But the important thing here is that you can't engage in diplomacy with rebel cities or armies. So cross the channel and look for the Sweboz in Germany, the Aedui and Averni in Gaul, the Lusetainians in Iberia and all the familiar Mediterranean ones where you would expect them.
Don't forget to go sightseeing. I quite like the unique buildings. Just look for provinces with 'stone circles' in them and when your touring diplomat is close enough to the city, double click it to read what the buildings are.

The rebels can make deals with you, but you can't make deals with them. If that makes sense. It is rare to see a rebel diplomat, I don't think they can train them in vanilla.
Arthurian - Total War, used rebel diplomats a lot. Representing Britain following your leadership but not under your direct rule. It was quite interesting playing a game where you had to avoid attacking the rebels because they were your only source of trade income...
