I'm playing with France and was fighting against Milan. And when a crusade was called against them. so i joined with an army of 850 soldiers. and marched towards the crusade target Venice (the city)
But when i got there Venice (the faction) was already there in fact the wore close enough to start besieging but the didn't. Now normally i would not care for such a thing but the city Venice can only be besieged from one side and they are standing on that side:furious3:.
So i could abandon the crusade but i really don't want to so that's only as a last resort. now what could i possible do?

Well since you are christian you cannot attack em because that results in excomm.
I suppose what you could do is wait a turn and see if they move or not or you can use an assassin and assassinate the leading general.
Or you could try to bribe them, which probably will cost too much.

I would say back off to let the Milanian army to move away from Venice ro besiege it and assault it. Other than that, there isnt too much for you to do

Use the console to move their army out of the way?

Well, if you back off enough and give them a way out and they take it, there you go, problem solved. If you do that and they don't move, just proceed to sit there, then it sounds to me like a bug, in that the AI should attack or move, esp. if it's a crusade and there are desertion penalties. "Camping" should not be a viable option in this case given the situation.

Is it cheating to get around a bug (provided it is actually a bug)?:smash:

IIRC there is no desertion if you already arrived in the target province

Do not worry as far as i know:
as long as i know when you are really near the crusade tagret you will not get deserters, only watch that your general doesnt die of old age...

Well i have tried now to give the venison army the space to move. But when i pres the end turn button they do move there army but in the same turn they place another crusading army back:furious3:

i haven't tried to assassinate the leader or bribe him but the last one isn't really an option because i'm still in the early age so i don't have that much florins

So ill try to assassinate him then

Well i have tried now to give the venison army the space to move.

A "venison army"? I want some of that. Don't give them the space to move - kill them all immediately and your army will have enough free food for weeks. And your general can put a stag's head in every room in his house. :laugh4:

Imagine the after-battle movie, showing the vanquishers of said army sitting down to a few steaks and chops cooked over a massive roaring fire.....
