Hi,

Looked at uploading EB for a few weeks now however i have a problem, i try to patch to 1.5 (RTW) but when i try to it doesnt let me and i get this message:

"An error (-5009: 0x8000ffff) has occured while running the setup.

Please make sure you have finished any previous setup and closed other applications.
If the error still occurs, please contact your vendor: The creative assembly (www[dot]totalwar[dot]com)"

When i click on details i get this:

Error Code: -5009 : 0x8000ffff
Error Information:
>Kernel\TextSubstitution.cpp (550)
>Ctor\ObjectWrapper.cpp (163)
>Ctor\ObjectWrapper.cpp (391)

>SetupDLL\SetupDLL.cpp (1526)

Can you play EB without upgrading to 1.5 or is it not possible?

Any help with this would be greatly appreciated

Thanks

You do need 1.5 to play EB. I can only suggest trying again. This is not guaranteed, but as the installation crashed, you may need to clean out the current installation. Possibly deleting stuff in the registry and whatnot.

Got 1.5 now, in the most awkward way possible. Got the zipped 1.5 on memory stick, put it on my other PC (which doesnt have the net), installed it (all went ok) and then tried to put it back onto memory stick (whole RTW folder) but wouldnt go (RTW 2.# gb or 2gb zipped, mem stick was only 1gb) so had to race round my mates and grab a cable and set up a network between the 2 PC's and then copy it, which i coppied into the wrong folder, not once but twice :S so several hours later, i finally have rtw 1.5 running on my PC :laugh4:

Thanks for your help anyway :)

Now that you finally have a clean copy, I'd advise you to leave it alone, and just make copies of THAT for installing mods and such. That way if you wind up with a bad install and need to start over, "starting over" isn't that process you just described! :sweatdrop:
