I've seen this on quite a lot of other forums, where they have a special [media] or [youtube] code that allows people to imbed youtube videos into their posts. I was just wondering, but does the .Org intend on implementing something like this in the near future? And if not, why?

Why not though, what's wrong with it in your respective opinions ?

I dunno, what would those videos be? If it is total war related, why not, indeed...

It will be irritating for some people.
There they are surfing from their work PC and suddenly a not Worksafe video opens.

You've got a point here, Stig

That would be embarassing indeed :embarassed:

Ah, now that's a point I completely missed.

TosaInu added the iframe code in that allows for embedded html frames within posts.

As I stated in the thread, I wasn't too keen on an automatic page download for both browser security and work-safe reasons. I think he has disabled the code for now.

What exactly are you doing browsing the net at work?

The YouTube videos don't play automatically when embedded.

This would only be semi-worthwhile in the off-topic forums, and really, why embed something when you can just post a link?

more work + no gain/some loss = bad idea

How about embedded media inside of spoiler tags?

Still loaded on viewing the thread, iirc

It's just not needed - we have all the embedded media that we need with [img] and [url] tags :beam:

The YouTube videos don't play automatically when embedded.
But I often notice they don't really start loading when embedded and slow down the scrolling somehow.
I don't really like them, a link is fine.

I think those problems might just be a problem on your side - i've never noticed anything like that.

I think it's an issue with Opera(I do have kind of a super computer:sweatdrop: ) but there is no way that I would switch to IE or Firefox just so I don't need to click a link.

As said above, what would we watch?

Links work fine. They open in a new window, we listen while still browsing the org

Definitely not an issue with Opera - i use it all the time, never any probs with embedded videos.
