I have an updated version of BI {1.6} and I downloaded this version of The Fourth Age mod.

I also downloaded the Critical Patch right after.

I then went to open the mod and nothing happend, I clicked on the Icon and all I got was an MS-DOS prompt then it went away and nothing happend at all no game opened up. I noticed that I installed it to the folder I made on my desktop. I tried to delete all the files in it and it just won't delete. When I want to put it in the recycling bin it just sits there with the garbage icon going to the can with no progress being made with the green bar. I then installed the mod again and this time put it in my Rome TW folder, still had the same problem nothing happend when I opened the game just the MS-DOS prompt. Did I do something wrong to install it? Anyone know?

Right now I have no problems with my RTW but I still think I should reinstall RTW and BI. Would I still be able to take my saved game icon out of it and put it back in the designated folder when I reinstall it again and still be able to play my last saved campaign?

Relax, no need to worry about reinstalling as long as there aren't any other mods present. Oh, except for the fact that there could be endless possible problems.

Did you follow all the steps they tell you to do before installing?
Remember the ci folder goes inside the bi folder.

Mine works perfectly, just make sure you've followed the steps. Start by restarting the process of installation. Delete (manually) all of the Fourth Age related files in the RTW directory, then open up the folder named "bi". If there's a folder named "ci" delete that too, then follow the steps that can be found here:

I sure hope this is the right link. <_<
Anyway, good luck! :2thumbsup:

There should be no problems if you follow the installation instructions, which for Forth Eorlingas are very straight forward. Please give us a step by step explanation of what you did, and how you followed the install. instructions.

I'm afraid I don't understand what you mean by folder on the desktop, for example - there is nothing in the install. instructions about making a folder on your desktop.

This is not the right place to post installation errors and it certainly is not the right place to post threads with subject lines that imply that mods do not work when *without exception* (except for corrupted downloads!) everyone who followed the instructions properly has got Forth Eorlingas to work.

Sorry for posting here, any admin please move this to that other mod section if you can.

When I first downloaded this mod all I did was install it to an empty folder on my desktop. Since that didn't workout correctly I installed it to my default Rome TW folder, I never put it in my BI invasion folder, would that be the problem? Im reinstalling TW and Im installing this mod again.

I was looking at the installation instructions here

It says I must "it is important that you make sure the install path is correct as it could result in messing up your files and having to reinstall RTW BI from scratch"

What exactly is the correct installation path? Your BI folder? Since I am dl the Barbarian invasion version of this mod.

Chronicle,

Please use the installation instructions here:
http://www.thefourthage.org/forums/viewtopic.php?t=332

When the release goes out it goes to many sites and the one above always contains the most current and most clear instructions and information. The SCC thread is maintained by our PR department and does not get updated as quickly as the site (SCC is still showing the 1.6 critical patch and we are on 1.7). I will put forward the suggestion that the install information and links be put in one place, linked to from the various announcment threads, in the future as I cannot update them even if I had time (I cannot edit the posts).

That said, there is no fault in the SCC instructions. The thread above does clarify what the correct install path is: it is the Rome directory. I believe most if not all mods install to the Rome directory and perhaps we take for granted that everyone knows this.

The Rome directory is the one with the BI and RTW .exes in it. If you go to the link above the path is given. Of course, it will differ depending of your computer set up and whether or not you changed your rome folder name or if you have a version which has (say) a Creative Assembly folder rather than an Actvision one. Whatever the case, the install path should point to the folder with the exes in it.
