But the friendship is not destined to last as tigers start eating meat when they are three months old and will need to be separated from their new playmates.

Indeed. I've always found monkeys exceedingly ugly, even babies. The tiger cubs are as cute as the dickens, though.
Ill take the orangutans. i think a pet monkey would be cool, just dont make them mad or youll end up covered in poo. and thats never fun.
But those cubs are too dangerous to keep as a pet. 4 things are stopping me from getting one though:
uhhh...the law?
the level of cash in my bank account.
the level of alcohol in my blood count.
the fact that that Las Vegas dude who got bit by a "highly trained" tiger was apparently a piece of crap. or monkey poop.

Whatever you do don't get a chimp, they'll do A LOT worse than throwing poo if you piss them off.

I wouldn't advice you geting a pet monkey. Especially a bigger sized one.
1) they really need a lot of attention and are rarly really happy in captivity
2) you stimulate those catching them. And they do really nasty things to get them (using glue, killing their parents,...). And they mistreat the animals too. A lot die, get sick or even start to pull their hair out and stuff out of stress
3) They all can bite damn nasty. And whatever you might think or how cute they may look they remain wild animals.
4) Especially with bigger monkey's. When they get older and think they might become the new alpha male/female,... They won't hesitate to attack and gain control over the non existing group.
5) The animals really can't have a healthy life.
6) Monkey's are stronger than they look especially the bigger ones, but the most dangerous about them is their intelligence.
I work voluntary at the nature rescue center in Opglabeek. (Dutch members probably even know it.) And the stories you hear. Well I shall tell you one.
An old couple had a chimp for about 40 years. The couple was old and the inevitable happened. The man died, no not because of the monkey (thank god!), natural cause. Anyway the old women and the chimp were left. However the old woman noticed that the chimp was behaving differently when suddenly at a given time she attacked the woman. Biting in her arms and legs. And the chimp bossed her around. After a week being bossed and tossed around she finally managed to escape. Injured and everything. And finally action was taken, however not a wise action. Somehow the family of the old woman, got a local asylum (word?) - it was in the neighbourhood of Brussels - to take care of the chimp. However as you might have expected, they're not really made for it. And it didn't took long before the monkey escaped, again causing a lot of bite wounds,... But they stil didn't learn their lesson, and a week or two later the chimp escaped again. This time some had their fingers pullen of or bitten of. And finally the asylum (?word?) took action and contacted the nature rescue center. She (it was a female) even managed to get us in problems sometimes. For example when changing cages, she has two next to eachother, you'd open the wall in the middle and throw some food over at the other side. She however liked the exta space and would sit at the place the wall used to be, and wouldn't move one bit. Some times she really wanted the food and she could reach it while leaving a foot over at the wall in the middle. The first few times that happen manny a man tried to close the wall. But even 4 fully grown strong man could't get the wall moving. And that while she only used one foot and was reaching for the food. She did many more stuff, and this at a professional place. She might have been something, but since a few years we have manny apes waiting to be transfered to specialized monkey asylum (word?) and they all are difficult to handle. Even for the specialized centra, like Stichting Aap (where most of the monkeys we have go to.) Anyway in the end this particular monkey found a new home in Wales were she also found a nice partner. So things worked out in the end, however I don't think I have to say that getting a chimp or other monkey is a bad idea anymore. I have many more of these stories (sadly tough) of things like this even of smaller monkeys.
How could anyone call this magnificant animal ugly?
beats me. The only thing I don't like about her is that she ain't climbing around in a rainforrest in Borneo or where ever this paricular animal came from.

Awesome, if you are ever in need of stables I got a few for ya. And apes are indeed not good pets. And chimps in particular are not only bad pets, they are extremily dangerous.

Correction: The funky tank. If they'd sent a few waves of those across the fields at the Kursk they could have funked the opposition into submission.
Easy.
What have people got against orang-utans! I love most animals (there are very few exceptions). This probably from watching all my grandfather's animal documentaries and growing up being able to pet the animals in his petstore.
I think they are both cute. ~;p

Exactly. This is the same reason that I believe we should abandon camo altogether in the military and instead wear Disney character suits like those you see at the amusement parks. Nothing scarier than a company of Donald Ducks, Goofies or even Mickey Mouses packing heat while charging at you.

Friends of ours, visitng my folks in Florida, had the misfortune to be on the "It's a Small World" ride when the chain drive for the boats broke....but the sound track didn't.
They were entombed there for 18 minutes and could not get the song out of their heads for WEEKS.
I, personally, think we should use this method instead of water-boarding -- but water-boarding may be a bit less damaging.

Oh dear God, please don't remind me of that ride. When I was in Paris with our school trip we went to Euro Disney and my friends and I didn't know any of the rides. That song looped over and over and what is worse is that some of my friends kept singing it over and over.
As for the people stuck in there for 18 minutes, if I were them I would leap overboard and swim to freedom!
I reckon you could keep a bush baby or whatever they are called as a monkey pet. They're only about the size of your hand. You could flick them if they got out of line.
