Hi.
I am looking to buy a portable/external hard drive, probably 150 to 200 gb. Not that much, but enough for my modding needs. The family computer just doesn't have enough space.
Can anyone suggest a good portable/external hard drive that could fit my modding needs?

Is that any good?
You can just buy cases now and stick a regular hard drive in.
The laptop-sized one I have here is even powered by the USB lead.

Really? good to know. But which make the good ones, I dont want a bad one that will crash the moment, or moments after, I put stuff on it.

I have this external enclosure and have had it for a year or so and it works great.

I have had no problems with it at all. Pair it up with this drive right here and you will have yourself a excellent external storage solution.

When you use an external/ internal w/ case hard drive, can you use the same program in the hard drive on different computers?

That depends a lot on the program.
If the program requires anything in the registry it will not work.
However, I had a few games that just ran fine with a completely new registry. But that was some time ago, now with copy protection requiring drivers etc, there are probably a lot more problems with that. Last time I tried, most programs didn't work.(converted my old HDD to an external drive about two weeks ago and tried to run some programs from it)

Ok. Rome total war has stuff in the registry. But would it still work if there were two seperate installs on the Hard drive for the seperate computers?

If you had RTW or M2TW installed on an external drive you can take that external drive anywhere and play those games on any computer, provided the computer has enough horsepower to run the game that is.

Really? that is what I want, to save some space on the family computers. So an external hard drive is a must have for my modding needs. Thank for clarifying that.
Well, what I meant were things such as your CD-key or so which are sometimes in the registry, some registry keys are not necessary to run the game, some others are, depends on the game, you can always just try it.
