View Full Version : Persistent CTD during AI trun
I'm playing a Roman campaign and is in year 166 BC, and suddenly the game persistently closes down on the end of the AI turn. Everything flows smoothly until the Eleutheroi move. During their move the game closes down.
I have tried to turn the background script off, and then I'm able to continue the game, but as soon as the background script is re-activated the game closes down again.
I would really appreciate some help here, as I would hate to loose my campaign.

I'm playing on v0.81 full install on a RTW patched to v1.5.
Any suggestions?
Im having the exact same problem.
About 170BC in my VH/VH KE campaign and only a few settlements to go, im having a CTD in AI turn. Im in 0.81 with the new fixed export_descr_buildings in case the was a rebelling settlement. And with the script off the game goes on without a crash. I think it crashes on Pontos turn.
Sould I post a save game?
Thank you for you kind help.
Thank you for a wonderful game.

Could you generate another CTD for me? But after you activate the script and before you click end turn, you should press the "~" key, then you'll see the "RomeShell". When you're there pleas type toggle_fow
Then click end turn - because if it's due to some AI movement you can now track that one down. Then post the results.
With toggle_fow on. In my case, It CTD in Pontos turn, but all I so in Pontos turn was a stack movement. So I think its the next in turn faction, the Sweboz, wich are an empire in my campaign. I looked for a rebelling settlement and I found one with 0 public order.
Could it be that the latest fix for rebelling settlements did not work in this case?
Could I go on without the script? What would I loose?
I tried typping toggle_fow before ending my turn. But the result was the same as before.
I've even tried the new fixed export_descr_buildings as well and it didn't make any difference.
Thanks for you help.
I must report that I did everything trying to save my campaign. Reloaded old saves, trying to go on with script off, had a little success for a few turns, but then again CTD on Pontos turn. With fog off I could not see anything that specifically was causing this. All I found were some potential rebelling settlements in the next faction after Pontos , but that sould not be the case with the latest fix for rebelling settlements.
I had a fresh installation of 0.80 patched to 0.81 with the little rebelling fix added.
I am so depressed over the loss of my long campaign.
And Im afraid to start a new one in case I get a persistent CTD again.
Im looking foreword for a crashless EB 1.0 edition and I will support the team for their wonderful effort.

If I have understood what mainly causes the CTDs during the turns, you may find a solution to your problem modifying the file "export_descr_buildings " but you have to identify the community that causes the bug whith the "toggle foe" command of "romeshell" first.
I am not absolutely sure but I think it is something like this.
Yes you are right, about the export_descr_buildings thing, the new hotfix 0.81a fixed that.-The rebelling city bug.
Il take a deep breath and start all over with 0.81a hoping not to loose my vh-vh KH campaign again.
Here we go...
