On the back of the Medieval 2 box it says you can fight in South America.
I have been on the same game for ages even though I am bored of it, just so I can fight in South America.
How do I actually get there? What is the earliest time in the game that I can go?
Cheers, Josh

You have to get a ship called a Caravel (or at least I think that's it). When you have that the radar map at the bottom left will have a black strip to represent uknown land. Sail into it with the Caravel and you'll get to the New World. It takes a while to sail though, so make sure you put a huge army on the boat, not enough time to keep going back and forth. Im not sure if you have to wait a certain time before you can build a caravel or if its available as soon as you get the appropriate port. Either way you'll get it eventually, just keep upgrading one of your cities.
and Welcome to the forums.

The best boats that I can have at the moment is a Gun Holk (I am the English by the way), are they not good enough then?
When I do have the appropriate boats, I just sail it into the ocean on the bottom left hand corner of the campaign map?
Oh, thanks for the welcome :2thumbsup:
Sail just like they did! you ll need a ocean going ship have fun when you get their, hint sail from top of england remember to take merchants and diplomats :hippie:
It's called a carrack for the english, and you can't build the port it's avalibile from until the "World Is Round" event has poped up.
Do you need the rudder event too or no?

If you really want to get to the americas quickly use teh cheat " toggle-fow"
Although u can't see it in the minimap at the bottom left corner scroll to the middle of the edge of the mapand look around and u should be able to the americas' but i am not sure if u can transport ur troops there havn't tried before.

In addition, to build the necessary ships as the English, you'll need the Naval Drydock, which comes available with a Huge City/Citadel.
They cost quite alot to build and upkeep, but you don't need too many of them as the AI generally won't be heading over to the new world. I built too many and had to compensate in my budget.

go into the descr_events folder and backspace out the turn numbers for the world is round and replace one event with one and the other with two and when you start a new campaign and you end the first turn at the beginning of the second a message will pop up saying the world is round.
then all you have to do is wait for the age of gunpowder to come around and then you can upgrade up to a naval drydock and build the ships you need. i think spanish and portugese get ocean ships on a smaller port and on the naval drydock.

You can use the Med Manager to set the time you want (1400-.. or smth like that) and you can get to america much faster. I did it and managed to sent an army there .. though my army was totally destroyed by the aztecs.

I think the rudder event happens before the world suddenly turns round...
As for toggle_fow, no, that won't let you go there...Just seeing, no touchy!

And it's important to note that your New World naval force needs to be ONLY Carracks or the equivalent. If you have a Holk in the mix, you'll be stopped like a wall.:wall: :wall: :wall: :wall:
