View Full Version : Modding?
Hey, I have got Medieval Total War + Viking Invasion and I just saw that you can play with the horde as well, but i cant. So what do you have to do so you can play with the mongols, as well as the serbs and others..?
You will need to install a modification. For your purposes, the Golden Horde and Serbia, the Medieval Total War XL modification would probably be the most suitable. Go here and read this thread, there is a download link near the end somewhere for the latest version: https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/showthread.php?t=31201
Remember that installing a modification permanently overwrites your game files and renders old save game incompatible. The only way to return to "vanilla" game is to uninstall and reinstall.

Or use a mod-switcher (e.g. this one (http://www.beerymod.com/sh3_003.htm)), by far the more convenient solution. install a patched, but un-modded MTW:VI on your computer, make a file snapshot with the mod-switcher and then install mods at ease in a special subdirectory. each time you want to enable/disable a mod, run the mod-swithcer, then make your choices and wait a couple of minutes. eeeaasy!
Ok, just installed it and I came till thank you for using blablabla...) So if i start it up with my original game it will get new playable factions?
Well, started up it.. problems :( :
1: I have german version, and NO im not german! But how do I change the language. The problem is that with an other language you get everywhere (!! ... !! ) Cannot translate problem :(
2: Ok, I can see which faction is which cause of the colours.. I choose the Serbs. So you get that waiting thing. It is at 1/3 and than you get unknown error, I waited 4 minuts and when I putted on the 'enter' button it went full. But then I came to resume game ... end blablaba and clicked Resume.. so whats the problem?! I had only rebels.. :( :( HEEEEELP:no: no good :(

Find the subfolder Medieval/Loc/Eng and copy all its content and insert it into Medieval/Loc/German.
That should take care of the text errors.

Ok, thanks. But now I've founded Medieval/loc/English and the German one. So what has to go what cause in German there are English files.

Just copy all files from Eng into German.
Make a backup copy first: Select the German folder and right click, select "copy" (Kopieren) and then "paste" (einfügen). Voila, a new folder named "copy of Eng" (Kopie von Eng).
Now go into the folder Eng and select all files (CTRL+A or STRG+A), then copy them to the clipboard (Zwischenablage) by pressing CTRL+C or STRG+C, now go into the German folder and press CTRL+V or STRG+V to paste (einfügen) the files.
It doesn't matter if the files in German have english file names, the programmers are british after all.
Ok, thanks. But i still dont follow it yet, it gets wrong at "paste at clipboard"
Which clipboard do you mean? As further all thing above it got well except that

Any time you copy something on your computer, the copy is stored in the clipboard: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Clipboard_%28software%29
It's like a virtual storing space.
So, when I said "copy to clipboard" I could've just said "copy".
Do you still have those text errors?
