I was just wondering...it doesn't seem the Gallic starting armies(Mala Gaeraos, Botroas, and Sotoraos) for both the Aedui and Arverni match up with their recruitment(Iaosotae[sp?], Lugoae, Bataraos). Is it supposed to be like this, or is this meant to be changed? Just kinda wondering about it, having a fun Arverni campaign regardless...

For some of these you have to wait until you have higher tier recruitment MICs, for others they are actually region specific. I haven't got the game at hand but you will notice that the units are subdivided into cis-alpine (Italy) and trans-alpine (France) units so you need to to a bit of hunting around to find where they can be recruited.

Yes, but the above-mentioned units don't seem to be recruitable in Transalpine Gaul. I think in Cisalpine Gaul, but the Arverni don't start with anything there and the Aedui have one town(Mediolanum.) They're possibly the only factions who cannot recruit/retrain their starting units in their starting cities, whether immediately or eventually...

I tried an Aedui campaign back in 0.8 and noticed the same - it was a rather rude surprise to find out the nearest place you could retrain the line grunts of your transalpine armies is Mediolanum... especially given that the rather territorial pack of Eleutheroi Mori Gaesum bouncing around the Alpine passes didn't exactly encourage making the trip.
Just makes you wonder a bit just what all those cisalpine guys were doing that far north to begin with is all.

Some units will need higher MIC yes, while other units have been added to EB AFTER the starting armies were set, some years ago.
For example with Pontos, in previous versions they started out with pantodapoi phalangitai & Haruvatish asabara...always wondered why no one reacted that Pontos had some squadrons of Arachosian cavalry, while Arachosia borders India actually :laugh4:
Since their initial starting army setup, eastern javelinmen & slingers have been added, so the Pontic starting army setup was altered.
That might happen to Aedui & Arverni too and other factions later on. Sometimes Faction Coordinators might wait till some units are done, other times the Faction Coordinator could have completely forgotten

I figured as much. I didn't peep up about Pontos because I didn't know where they came from(the skirmisher cav), they had it in vanilla, and it was incomplete anyways. But I wanted to post about THIS because it seemed out of place NOW, and wanted to make sure it wasn't forgotten and stuff like that. Even you guys need a reminder from time to time, after all....

The starting Mala Gaeraos and Botroas one finds in Transalpine Gaul are the remnant of a bygone era. These can no longer be raised in Transalpine Gaul (with the exception of Mediolanum if the feature was implemented).
The customs did survive (post 270 BC) however in Cisalpine Gaul as well as other parts of the 'Celtic' outré-mer, so both factions will be able to recruit them in these areas outside of Transalpine Gaul.
I endeavoured to have the starting forces changed to avoid this confusion but in the big scheme of things it was a low priority task and thus hasn’t been implemented to date.
In addition, the Arverni need a few minor unit fixes / additions that the EB team have overlooked over the past year. Email me at callmepsycho@hotmail.com and I’ll forward them on.
