Can any little info please be dispatched on the reason of the locking of that thread. It was just a scream out to people to please, give more about what can be, and what wasn't.
Regards.
(I'm not sure if this even should go here ermm..)

Btw, to make my rather vague reasons above clear.. I wrote here because I don't know who locked it.

It's because the original thread was locked because both sides had entrenched their opinions and it was clear no conclusion was going to be reached. It was also locked to allow everyone to move on and cool down, and this is where your topic simply revived the issue.
Although it was intended to stop the arguing, it was clearly just going to drag on the argument further, especially given that one of the participants in there, in my eyes, over-simplified the argument and just took up sides even though he claimed to be on the fence.
The bottom line of the argument was that people were telling Puzz3D that he should move on from criticizing M2TW and contribute productively to the discussion and furtherment of the game, with Puzz then retorting that he will keep sharing his opinions to prevent people from buying the game without the proper information.
No-one was budging from their respective viewpoints, so let's leave this one lie shall we? :)
Actually (and it's hard for me to say this) Puzz was one of the only ones that was productive imo. People (including me) just don't like the fact that even tho he doesn't own MTW2 he still knows loads about it.
But let's not get that discussion over here

Just curious, for curiosities' sake. Was that directed at me?

I disagree. These problems are not going to go away by just ignoring them. On the same token I think that the discussion needs to be a lot more constructive and well-worded than it has been so far.

I don't think people dislike him for the basis of his knowledge Stig... I just think it's that the continual and unending comparisons to previous Total War games in almost every topic related to M2TW multiplayer was getting a bit repetitive and counter-productive simply because what he is saying he has said many, many times before and the members of this community don't need reminding.

As I mentioned before, both sides had entrenched themselves and any 'give' in the argument had long since evaporated. And simply telling both sides to 'give in' will not work; both parties obviously feel very strongly about their respective opinions and sometimes it is best just to leave it be.

If you're talking about the engine superiority/inferiority argument, then yes that's rather pointless at this stage of the game and has been beat to death.
My point(s) have been that there's bigger problems under the surface that haven't been focused on much, as far as I can tell. Constructive discussion here would be most useful. Again I still maintain that it's possible to gain a consensus on at least some of this.

I agree that constructive discussion is always good, it's just that right now opinions are polarized and perhaps it is best to wait for everyone to cool down and forget who the 'enemy' is before any attempts to reach a creative concensus are renewed.

The whole point of the thread was to tell people to just drop it. If by any chance you think it evaporated, you're clearly wrong. I had that same discussion with Puzz3D a LOT of times, and we'd just open it again at another topic.. That's the thing. It will keep coming up, and I will keep getting headaches of it (Thus, the question: Is it only me?), and so stay in discomfort in the forums.. We don't want that, do we? ~;)

I don't understand.

Well obviously everyone is not you and do not share your relationship/views with him. I reiterate, both sides in that thread were refusing to budge from their 'ideals' and thus any progression for the time being was rendered impossible. They were unable to move on as you and Puzz did in your conversation.

You seem to misunderstand what I'm saying. I'm saying to take it up at a later date when everyone is not so tense and are able to concede a few points, not that we should leave the discussion forever.
And to be honest, no-one forced you to read that thread and it's not the forum had reached 'meltdown'... in fact, the only only spillage I could see from that particular thread was the topic you created.
All I'm saying is that this issue is hardly essential to all the well-being of the forum, and can be easily taken up again at a later date when everyone is in a more forgiving mood.

Well, obviously, everyone should be like me and do the same. Either discuss something worth it, or don't.

I think I understand you good enough. I'm saying that the subject should never be talked about again.. Maybe it should be added to the rules: "No STW vs RTW vs MTW vs M2TW posts". Really, they are anything but "positive" and "giving".

Actually, I didn't read that thread. The few replies that I saw made it so "unlikely" that I'll check it again. We don't want people to leave forums, do we?

What "issue" have the thread I made brought up? Not talking about it? Aaah.. So you want it to stay on..?!

Err, IMHO, you can still compare if games if you wish, and explain why you prefer a game to another, but this is personal. You don't need to convince people into saying what you say yourself...
I mean I could explain you why I prefer a "magret de canard au cassis aux cèpes" than a "confit de canard avec pommes sarladaises". But I'm sure that some people would prefer the "confit". And I'd love to know why, in order to know them better. But I would never try to make the other guy tell me that he's stupid and really should've prefered the "magret" since the beginning...

Why do that when really, all it's going to make, is another 100 posts going in circles..

Oh, I might have read too fast... You meant that there are too many threads already about this? Uh, OK, then, I understand that, of course!
But some newcomers on the forum might want to discuss the subject without checking first in every thread that it hasn't been done yet? Or simply might want to add their opinion (we say "put one's salt grain" in french, I don't know if ther's an expression in english for this)? (OK, could be boring for members having been here for a long time...)
