I'm thinking of buying the one that has better graphics. For a long time, I thought the PS3 had better graphics, hence the reason why I have waited so long to buy it. Apparently, it's sold out in all the stores near me. Unfortunately, I heard someone else claim that the 360 had better graphics, and that the PS3 was more expensive just because of the blue ray. Is this true about the blue ray? :help:

The PS3 is, imo, the most powerful of the consoles. Hands down. The trouble is that it's difficult for developers to squeeze all of it's potential out of it. In my mind, the question is: will it move enough units to justify developers spending the resources on fully utilizing the hardware? That's a big question mark in my mind, considering that the Wii is vastly outselling the PS3 and that the 360 has such a huge head-start and a better price point.
Were I in the market for a fancy graphics console, I'd go with the 360- but for me, it's the Wii. :2thumbsup:

i keep arguning with my friend which is better PS3 or 360.
graphic wise the 360's ATI gfx has a 580 core.
PS3 i dunno. google or wikipedia it.
Right now imo the PS3 doesn't really have attractive games, IMO, but later on im sure some good games will come out while 360 has a lot of good games to play right now.

The 360 is better games wise from what I've heard. And when playing a console it's all about the games right?
Wii I heard wasn't that great from what my friends said along with the PS3.
Having only played a 360 my opnion is probably biased, but I'de go with the 360 I've played it and it's very nice with a lot of fun games.
360 is more proven, PS3 has more power. Not that many good games on the PS3, and for that price you can have a 360 and the Wii.
Crackdown looks like a really good game for the 360- anyone played that yet? Bullet Witch looked promising too. Of course, I'll never get to play either until a PC port comes out or if the 360 has a huge price drop- probably right before the 720 comes out. :beam:
Crackdown is ok, it's completily over the top and has great cell-shaded graphics. Not really my type of game, but if you like GTA you should try it.

Oui
Hmm. In pure graphical horsepower, the x360 and ps3 are fairly equal. The nVidia chip in the 360 pushes more polys, but has memory access issues IIRC. The Ati in the 360 doesn't have quite the pure polygon power, but does other things very well - filtering and AA at low performance cost.
If all you're interested in is high faluting graphics, they'll end up more or less equal - the PS3's big name high tech stuff is in the CPU and BRD, neither of which are going to directly affect visuals unless you like pre-rendered cutscenes.

Hands down? The wiiiiiii!!!
Who can resist every nintendo title made?
Who made the classic games? Nintendo!
Even though we dont have a Wii, I will buy one, continuing my tradition of having every nintendo system there is.
Cant wait to play Lylat Wars, Super Mario Kart (the SNES one) and Megaman (SNES)
:2thumbsup:
I'd be tempted to go for an Xbox 360, especially if you have an HD TV. Lots of games, lots of fun, online stuff.
I'd wait until there are more longer-term games on the Wii (all you've got at the moment is Zelda, which works fine on my £30 second hand GC anyway). And PS3 is a bit expensive for something that's basically the same graphics and controls wise as the Xbox 360.
There are lots of rumours of an Xbox 360 with larger hard drive/HDMI coming out soon though, so might be worth waiting...
The wiiii's the best console - if you want power, stick with a pc
If you want fun/innovation, go for the wiii
Consoles will never outperform pcs and they should stop trying :laugh4:

I'm going to risk it by saying a £280 pc won't beat an Xbox 360, ever. Maybe at data storage, but that's it. Dell's £300 pcs can't even run Aero. They can hardly run XP.

You lose weight with the Wii, and that couldn't hurt.

The Xbox 360 has more games that I'm interested in than the PS3 (Mass Effect, Blue Dragon, Lost Odyssey) and a bunch of inane shooters. The PS3 I'm sure could out perform the 360, but if I don't care about the games, I will never bother to buy Sony's Disaster. I expect to own a 360 by the end of the year.
The Wii on the other hand is home to some great games of its own, with sweet new controls. I've not bought one yet, but I will. Twilight Princess and especially Metroid Prime 3 are reason enough for it. The Virtual Console is plenty of reason too. I will buy a Wii at least when MP3 comes out, if not before.

To get the best out of the modern consoles one needs a GOOD display. We're talking about something 30+inches and of course HDTV. Then the correct cable, and people, let's not forget a decent sound system. Oh, and the console, controllers and the games.
Right, so that's:
£500-1000+ for the TV
£30 for the correct wire
£200 for the sound
£300 for the console
£50 per game
Hmmmmm... :inquisitive:
I've just recently got an old X-box. It with 15 games and accessories came in at £80. I've wired it to my projector and my PC sound and it's pretty good.
Maybe in a few years...

@rory - exactly
That's why a pc will always beat a console in that regard
After having played the Wii for a while, I look at it as a mediocre console that only has a gimmicky control feature to sell it. The "newness" of the Wii-mote quickly wore off and, when I realized that it didn't help me control any better than a standard Xbox controller, the fun factor of the Wii dropped off rather quickly.

That video shows all 3 consoles playing COD3. To me it looks close between the PS3 and 360 with the Wii being the worst (Although I've been told Wii is the most enjoyable to play COD3). Probably the 360 looks the best but you couldn't tell a difference between that and PS3 except the PS3 brightness seems to be turned up.
I dont think there is much difference in graphics. If you have a nice big HDTV you wont see any difference whatsoever. It's like saying which one has better sound I think. Probably near the time the next consoles are being released will be when the PS3 starts to dominate but at the moment, the 360 is winning and looks set to dominate for a while because thye have better games. Remember Sony lose money everytime they sell a PS3 and all the good games are going to the 360.

IMO why would you just buy a console just for the reason of graphics. The PS3 is not compatable with all HDTV's anyway and the games will be expensive because of the blue ray. There are many factors you should think about before buying a console. One gameplay. The Wii has the controller which is used by movement and as someone had posted the titles released by Nintendo are far better and enjoyable then some hardcore shoot 'em up game on the PS3. Two Multipayer. The Wii again has the best multipayer IMO as all players are moving around and having a laugh, the only downside is I'm not sure but i don't think there is Network/Live (online) gameplay for the Wii. Therefore the 360 wins this round due to its vast selection of online multiplayer games. Finally Three Memory. The 360 and PS3 both have hardrives that with the 360 you may have to buy sperately but the PS3 has an intergrated hardrive of around 60Gb whereas the 360 only has a capacity of 20Gb. The Wii uses the classic memory sticks for holding memory but if you have just moved house and you have 3 memory sticks each for a seperate game and you have lost them you are as they say, "Stuffed." The final award goes to the 360 for its cheap and not hunky 20Gb hardrive.
Overall IMO you should buy the Wii, great titles great fun and its Nintendo. The PS3 was supposed to be released in 2006 in november but its release was put back to march because of bugs to the, oh wait the Blue Ray, so it Wii for Mii :rtwyes:

I am dissapointed in all of you, betraying pc for consoles.... Consoles will never have better graphics than pc even right now with the relatively new next gen consoles and it is basically impossible to play rts of consoles. I know LOTR: Battle for Middle Earth II is for consoles, but if you ever tried to play it on a consoles you will notice how awkward and wierd it is
If this discussion was about what was better, pcs or consoles, i think everyone would agree on something for once :laugh4:
It's a decision based around which one is the least bad, imo :beam:
After having played the Wii for a while, I look at it as a mediocre console that only has a gimmicky control feature to sell it. The "newness" of the Wii-mote quickly wore off and, when I realized that it didn't help me control any better than a standard Xbox controller, the fun factor of the Wii dropped off rather quickly.
I'll eat any xbox-player alive with my wiimote, wiimote>keyboard/mouse.
Nah, with the wiimote I can aim faster, and with the nunchuck I have analogue control over my movement, it's the best from both worlds
I haven't personally used the wii, but I really can't imagine that you can aim faster with a wiimote than a mouse.
That's like saying that a gamepad provides more precise control than the afformentioned method :inquisitive:
you better believe it, I would feel greatly confident in taking up arms against a pc-gamer.
If cross platform games are ever avaliable, i'll take you up on that
Wiimote vs Keyboard/mouse? Hmm, I'm not so sure. The biggest issue with the Wiimote is fatigue- you have to hold your arm out constantly as you use it to aim and change direction. With a mouse, if my hand cramps or whatever, I can just let go of it and continue running in the same direction. If I want to flex or stretch my arm while wielding the wiimote, I'll find myself staring at the ceiling and spinning in circles in-game. That could be just me though. :beam:
OTOH, there's no doubt in my mind that the Wiimote far exceeds any console controller for FPS type gaming. Coming from the PC side, it's extremely frustrating to try to aim with an analog stick, while the wiimote makes aiming very precise and intuitive by comparison.
Generally speaking, "intuitive" is the watchword of the wiimote- not just for FPS games. A perfect example of another usage is ExciteTruck- the controls for that game are incredibly intuitive and incredibly fun. Some may disagree (they're nuts), but I also loved the added wiimote functionality of Zelda:TP- made the bow/slingshot/boomerang sequences so much more pleasant.
Wiimote and FPS games have to balance between being overly sensitive and bouncing about with every twitch, or being fairly unresponsive. Mouse owns.
Well Xiaxou I used to be #2 on the rogue spear clanladder with pistols(and a few here played rogue spear and know how extremily badass you have to be to achieve that), completily owning everything that ever had the misfortune of playing against me, so I am very comfortable with the mouse/keyboard setup, but the Wiimote allows moves I never thought were possible in a fps game. It's like dancing with god, I love it, and I want a rogue spear remake for the Nights that say Wii
