View Full Version : Can't Build Roman Faction MICs in Taras or Rhegion?

I am using .81a, along with the "First cohorts, night battles + recruitable roman generals minimod"

Playing as the Romans, I built a type one government in both Taras, and Rhegion, and no MICs were available(Factional or Local). I tried using a type 2 gov, and then the local MIC was available.

I used cheats to remove all buildings, then build them again, and tried different population levels, still no Factional MIC. I don't know if this is something to do with the minimod, such as the type 1 government is not supposed to be available in those provinces? I think the "homeland recource" is labeled as western greek in Taras...

I remember a post that showed all the areas that were type 1 and 2 for each faction. I can't find it now.

Any Ideas? Thanks in Advance, Jarardo

Factional MICs are not available in southern Italia and the Po valley until the Polybian Era. Government resources are not dynamic, but the fact that is 'Homeland' should actually apply a couple decades later.

What point in time have you reached?

Romanisation extends with each reform (kinda, sorta) You can get Roman troops in southern Italy after the Polybian reforms. Which is when Roman faction barracks become available in the area, as opposed to auxilliary/allied troops.

some of my auxillary baracks can't build anything. I've build up to 2-3 levels, and some still trains nothing. Do I need to wait for the reforms to train auxillary in some cities?

In certain places, the regionals would be the same as the factionals. In these places, the regional MIC is empty.

Also Italian regionals for Rome are in the factional MIC, so that they go away with time. (It would make no sense to have Samnites in the Imperial roster. Samnites were completely Romanized.)

Also there are still recruitment holes.

I think that's the main reason. In some cities, I have both local and auxillary barracks, and I can't recruit anything whatsoever.

Thanks for the quick answers. I'm only at 262bc. hmm..

So if I build a type one government in those provinces, I won't be able to recrtuit anything there until the polybian reforms. Because I can't build the local MIC with the type one gov. So I'll have to build the type two, and then demolish it and build a type one after the polybian reforms.

Is there a map or a chart I can look at that will give me this info so I'll know which type of gov to build?

Thanks again

Probably Carthaginian island holdings, ne? There are plans for regional Carthaginian units for coquerors.

I know it was a hole in .80, but what level do I have to take my Illyrian MICs up to for Hippeis?

I'm currently upgrading the northern one to the second level, I will find out eventually, but someone here will know.

Yup Carthage - but they can build regionals, and 1-2 cities in the Gallic regions of northern/North East Italy can't build either regional nor Roman units.

There seems to be an unconfirmed thing with Taras and the Romans. It seems to have unrest even without any enemy spies in it. Even upgrading the settlement and all the buildings in it don't seem to help. I've heard other people mention it but nobody has ever cared enough to follow through with it...
If you mean Patavium/Bonnonia, I know those can recruit regionals before the polybian, and both factional and regional afterwards. If you mean segestica and the illyrian provinces, I understand. Neither factional nor regional mics seem to yield anything there, but I trust the eb guys to fix that recruitment hole among others when they get the chance.

Yup, it was Segetica. I wasted 10k on building up to lvl 2 aux barracks...worthless >_<
Can we go to the script and fix it ourselves?

It should only cost 3900 to build up to lvl 2 aux barracks, 900 for the first level and 3000 for the second.

Anyway, the code is all in edb, and yes you can change it yourselves. I wouldn't recommend it though. If you do want to, search for "building Barracks_Z", that is the building complex for the regional building. Then you'll need to start adding entries, but you'll need to find the guide for that, if you don't already know how.

as for Segestica and Daimion (or so, the other Illyrian City below Segestica) you can build Thrakian light Cavalery in regional MiC.

Harder is that you cannot build anything (as Roman,Polybian Reform)in Korsika,Sardinien and at the Baleaer Island..not one Unit.
Earlier..with Antonninus anti-ctd patch it were possible to build at least Roarii here but now after the hotfix they gone.

Escepially i dont understood why Romans cannot recruit Balear Slingers at the Balear Island (except as Merc´s) as Carthago can (Level 3 or 4 Fac MiC) since Romans have used them very extensive every time, in Britain, Battle at Brentwood Hill-Imperial Time, betwen Caesar Claudius and Caractac (or so, the one with the Slogan "if Rome wishes to rule the World......" in Intro) they were named as they have stop a charge of Chariots agains a flank of one Roman Legion....so its hard to belive that all the time and playes the Romans have used only Merc´s Slingers and didn´t training them self as Carthago has do.
