Didn't know it was possible, but MY Pope (disloyal scum!) now has a ban on me attacking Portugal and Denmark concurrently. The latter came one turn after the former. Seems serious too. When I tried to rush the gates of Bruges I got the "you will be excommed" message. :furious3:

I wanted so badly to kill off this Portuguese salient too. And make the Danes pay!

But I got some satisfaction. For some reason King Alfonso decided to traipse through good English (French) soil behind my lines, such as they are. He took along one unit of crossbows just to slow him down, I guess. That was his final mistake. He got bushwhacked by the ruthless English heir and with a company of knights and hobilars. :smash:

Maybe his heir will learn to be more respectful of English power. Okay, so I was hoping to ransom his hide. All this expansion is running me broke!

Ooo, I just noticed that silly little bushwhacking went down in history. Go figure. Was even odds. We killed 87 of 92 miserable portugee; they got 16 good knights. Well, mostly hobilars, but they are knights in my book! Maybe killing royalty give you a bonus towards heroic victories too.

It's possible to get banned from attacking more than one faction in one go. It all depends on your favour with him. Keep bribing the Pope and he'll shut up for a while.

Other than that, I can only say that it takes patience.

If his favour is high with you (8-10 cross), he'll send you a stop order after a few turns of aggression. If it pops up while your besieging you can proceed to assault the castle without risk of excomm. You'll fail the mission but take only a small rep loss.
