can effect how the units battle, I learned that even when the army is about to be annihalated and the taisho died. They stick with it till there is only about 1 or more men left, no matter the honour taishos with high honour normally keeps even h0's around h1's low honour gens can effect them making them rout think of it as realistic if the guy who is leading u is of lower honour then u then u wont wanna stick around.
