BF2 not running

Ever sunday i play a bit of BF2, but today it won't work. I put the CD in, click play, the BF2 thing shows up on my desktop, then disappears and...nothing happens.

And i don't know why.

I've checked task manager, and BF2.exe is in there when the desktop splash screen is on screen, but as soon as that disappears, BF2.exe goes as well. What's gone wrong? It's pretty annoying that this has happened, because i don't want to have to reinstall it.

Well, have you changed any system components since last sunday ? Anything, whatsoever ?

You could try the obvious system restore point, but other than that I wouldn't know what the problem could be.

1) I got fed up of trying to make it work and reinstalled it. Miday through, i told a friend of my dilemma, only for him to tell me that he had the same problem and that the solution was on the EA forums - restart your PC. Boy was i annoyed with myself!

2) FatmanFive. I'm only 80 points off Sergeant. Managed to rack up 200 points in 2 hours yesterday.
