Remember that old thing?
The last issue was a considerable time ago, I personally have not seen Ianofsmeg, the editor, on these boards for many moons and previous attempts to reform the org's newspaper have been half-hearted and fruitless. So was wondering, is anyone else interested in re-forming a journalistic team so that the org can have its own publication?

Hi King Henry V,
I'd be more than happy to help by editing the articles before they go up - as in a proof reader, yet, I sadly, am rubbish at writing them - sometimes I don't even understand what I write myself, so I would leave that part to the real experts! I hope this does start up, having a newsletter would be great! Good luck, cheers!
Warmaster Horus
03-12-2007, 16:54
Same as Omanes. Although as far as the Articles go, it depends what the Subject is. I could do a kind of special report from time to time(mod release, etc...)
Two is better than one. For a Gahzette to work it needs many (more or less) articles and many means lots to proofread.

Whatever happened to Ian anyway?
What exactly IS the Gahzette? What kind of articles and such? Is there an old copy I can see somewhere?

He's away I guess. Haven't seen him on MSN for lifetimes.
I will be perfectly happy to contribute articles, but unfortunately I've got too much on my plate to do any organizational work. So... if this thing every moves anywhere and needs content, send me a PM and I'll pump it out quickly.

It's great to see this show on the road once more, but this time, I don't think we want it to die out straight away. So we need some direction, so this is what I suggest.
Sapi is AM here, and so is committed to spending a fair amount of time on the .org without random dissapearances. I would strongly recommend, if he is willing, that he take on the task of editing and organising the Gahzette.
If Tosa agrees, I think a private subforum for the organisation of the Gahzette might be provided.
So what I'm suggesting:
sapi: Editor
King Henry V: Reporter
UltraWar: Reporter
GBB: Reporter
Caius Flaminius: Reporter
edyzmedieval: Reporter
TinCow: Reporter
pevergreen: Reporter
Warluster: Reporter
Omanes Alexandrapolites the Idiot: Proof reading
Warmaster Horus: Proof reading
How about it? I'd leave the assigning of reporters to different topics to sapi, but I'm sure it'll work out that you just write about what interests you.
Thanks for your support Myrddraal.
It is important that everyone here is writing about topics that they are genuinely interested in, so I'm certainly not going to be assigning topics to particular people but rather relying on people volunteering, which you have so aptly done up to this point.
I'll discuss this more with the contributors once we really get started and once a provisional date for the first issue has been set, but I think a system wherin the contributors post their pieces in a private forum (which Myddraal is working with Tosa to obtain) and then the proof readers go over them there would be best.
I'll take care of the compilation and publishing side of things, as well as some final editing if it seems necessary.
So welcome, and good luck to all involved

Thanks for the advise Myrddraal! May I suggest, sapi, that, if TosaInu provides us with a hidden forum, then the proof readers and you have edit abilities. The idea would be that the proof readers edit what the reporters say and then, once done, it gets moved, by you, to a great visable forum where all the articles go? Probably a stupid idea, yet it might, hopefully, work?
Warmaster Horus
03-14-2007, 10:27
No, it's a good idea. The proof-readers would only have the right to edit in that forum.
edyzmedieval
03-14-2007, 10:27
Sapi, welcome our new master. Listen to the master, or die!!!
So, do we have that hidden fora?
Dutch_guy interviewed me about PBM stuff for the Gahzette a while back, but I don't think it came out. He or I should have a copy of the text somewhere if you need some quick ready content.
@omanes - that could work, but it'd probably be better (from my perspective, at least) if the proofreaders put up their changes as a separate post, as this makes it possible to refer to the original text of the article if need be.
@edzy - no, we don't have the forum yet - I'll let you know when Tosa works something out. There's nothing to stop people thinking about what to write in the mean time though.
@econ - thanks for the offer - if we can get a reporter to cover pbms all well and good; if not then we have that to fall back on.
To all the reporters: could you pm me with what you want to cover so that I can get all that together without cluttering up this thread?
The Gahzette is looking for talented and inspired reporters from all forums and all walks of life. Join the Org's very own newspaper and carve out a place for your niche today!
Applications by pm to sapi - all welcome

Well I can give it a go, but I would need to have some idea of what it all entails? If it comes down to writing articles about the main hall, I can do that, even add a touch of surrealism to it (:wink3:), could probably waffle on all day about the place in fact. :skull:

I'm still working on organising some article ideas and the like with the reporters, so you're basically welcome to contribute whatever you want.

It's called "padding out" my friend. Every newspaper does it, the Dail Mail more so than most in fact. The Mail usually run out of material somewhere around page 5, after which they simply "pad out" with regurgitated articles about conspiracy theories and WW2. I'm just trying to bring that feel of the true press to the Gahzette. Picture this, you just browsed though to page two and read the latest about M2TW, what next? Conspiracy theories and other rubbish of course, like this stuff, could be near the back:
AI discovered in TW game
AI has been unearthed in Rome Total War. A team of orgeologists have been working tirelessly over the ruins of this game for the last 2 years and have finally discovered what they believe may have once been AI. Professor Caravel working at the site was extremely pleased with the team's results. Putting down his shovel and giving the camels some water, he spoke with our reporter of the team's delight at the new discovery. "Yes this is a great day for the .org, the specimen we have found is a very primitive AI, we can't be entirely certain of it's true nature as yet but we believe it goes back to the prefantasyunitazoic period it may even date to as far back as the gameplayandtacticsazoic which is a very long time ago! It could be a remnant of earlier times when AI was more commonly found in this area. We are still excavating the site and we do still hope to find gameplay and tactics".

Since it is the OrgGahzette, I decided to post this...(not mine)
Caravel
FAKE CAMELS SCANDAL AT ORG
Moderator Mithrandir and Assistant Moderator Martok arrested at centre of "cash for camels" row.
Policeman Caius Flaminius and AndrestheCunning raided the .org late last night and seized a 100% polyester camel suit, 10 moderator turbans, an old toilet seat and a ginger wig. A witness outside, Mr Caravel from the Main Hall, commented "mwuhahahhahahahaaaaaa" as he was lead off in a straight jacket with 20 copies of the violent video game "Medieval Total War". After raiding Caravels home police found amateur mod making equipment. Detective Sergeant Somebody, handling the case said, "Caravel has been linked to Mithrandir and Martok, he was close, very close to modding Armenian Heavy Cavalry to all factions, this could have been a lot worse, a very dangerous individual is now safely off the streets"...
A little change to give the credits to the police...:bounce:
Anyway, what can I write?
To all gazhette reporters:
Tosa has been kind enough to provide us with our own forum. To join, open up your user CP, go to the tab 'grop memberships' and send a join request to the group called 'The Gahzette'.
I'll process your request as soon as i can (usually within 24 hours at the most) and then you'll be able to view the forum under the category 'misc'

@King Henry - sure - put in an invite to the usergroup and you can do some editing when it comes time for it. We're not doing things exactly as a 'real' newspaper would, which makes it all the more important to get some more people editing and the like. :beam:
