Is anybody thinking of posting detailed faction guides that cover more than just some opening move strategy, or has no one played any factions enough at differing levels to really have mastered any of the factions?

You can't provide more than starting strategies IMO, the game is to random and to many things can happen to offer a complete guide, the game isnt scripted like an RPG or whatever.

Besides what on earth would be the fun if you had a total guide? Whats the point?

Well, there could be discussion of battle strategies with faction-specific units.

But a lot of that is covered elsewhere. Like the HA thread does a great job on missile cavalry.

There's certainly room for more comments on a lot of the factions though.

yea I was wondering about that myself, forgbeat was the best his guides for Rome were great & I actually downloaded ones for the first MTW & printed them they are in a box somewhere. Maybe we should make them ourselves???:laugh4: :laugh4: :laugh4: that was joke because I feel I could never do them justice some of these guys are real hardcore and I thought I was good.:crown: :egypt: :2thumbsup: :beam: :charge: besides the game was still fairly new and I figured it was just a matter of time!!! @ Henry the Fifth

In my view, the best things that we have right now in terms of tactics would be Quietus' RTW Guide in the RTW Guide forum, and Her Frognesses' MTW and RTW/BI guides, in their respective forums. The RTW guides are more aimed at the newer 3d engine, while the MTW guide I've found has quite a bit more depth to it and some great info on tactical advice. They aren't a one to one match with M2TW or it's mechanics, but combined they're close enough. Doug's Horse Archer guide is the best I've ever seen on that subject bar none.

As someone else pointed out, the best you can really do is offer some advice on opening moves, there is no one size fits all. TBH, most of it is going to depend on your playing style... do you turtle, or rush? etc etc... You'll gain more confidence as your experience builds and you develop or determine what your playing style is.

Yep, like what everyone has said it all really depends on how you play the game on the tactical and campaign map, but I guess some of the better people at the game can come up and write down what their favorite strategies are. It could be an addition to the M2TW guides under tactics in general, or split up into different sections like HA, European warfare, Arab warfare, Orthodox warfare, and fighting verse Mongols/Timurids/Aztecs

The Guides forum is the place to post faction-specific strategies.

Sometimes a good general strategy thread emerges - like Doug Thompson's horse archer one - and it gets moved to the Guides forum to save if for posterity. Please PM frogbeastegg or me if you see a Citadel thread that you think should receive that treatment.

People are always welcome to post one-off tips in the FAQ sticky here and I will incorporate them. I think there's a fair amount of local knowledge and expertise that is not in the FAQ.
