Do enemy generals get command bonuses? I'm confused because I was invaded by a Seleucid general, who had no command boosting ancilliaries or traits, yet had a whopping 5 command stars. It seems a bit odd because while my faction leader, who has fought quite a few battles, has only 3 command stars, I have fought quite a few 18 year old enemy generals who somehow had 3+ command stars. Not that the stars are making these generals intolerably tough opponents though, I'm just curious.

I think that all AI generals get a maximum bonus of +5 (unexplained) command starts which they gradual reach over a period of a few years. As far as I know this is completly suplementary to the standard system and does not in any way affect the chances of getting command stars through traits and anccileries.

Hi HopliteElite,
I think that the great command stars bonuses provided by EB are there to give the AI much more of a chance of beating the player in combat in both auto-resolve and on the field, by providing morale and attack bonuses enabling the normally weak AI to fight much better than it usually would have the capacity to with fewer stars. Hope this helps you, cheers!

Command stars work a bit differently in EB. They are rarely important for the player because of the way we provide morale bonuses through traits or ancillaries, but they are important to provide to the AI to help balance battle odds.
