how many people just started playing RTW as the Greeks just because of 300.

Few, I'd say. 300 didn't exactly advertise RTW. But people from the community might have, thinking 'great movie, almost same time as RTW, so I'll buy it cheap'.
Although by now the shops'll say:'Buy M2TW, it's more recent and better!' also cost more.
EDIT: Disregard what I said. I hadn't read the question properly, actually. But had the question been: how many people bought RTW because of 300, then my answer would have been valid.

Nero: I think you ask a question worth noting. As time goes by and more and more R:TW players see this movie, I'll bet more than just a couple of them will find themselves loading up a fresh Greek campaign.
Back in the days when i played unpatched Vanilla, the Greek Cities where one of my favourite factions, and they were the only faction i bothered a complete campaign with, and i am tempted to start up a greek campaign except under a month ago i played a huge Brutii campaign and only stopped because of a recurring CTD in RTG.
Maybe in a few months when ive played a good amount of EOD!
I'm playing the Greek Cities with the Extended Greek Mod solely because of watching 300. Even if it's historically inaccurate.

How many people?....I'll have a guess at 300
What is the prize for the person who comes closest to the final number? :laugh4:

Time Commanders and Lord of the Rings made me want to play Total War. Meh, we all have to start somewhere.
Anyway, the Spartans in RTW are uber lame (unless they're modded) with their dumbass helmets and robes.
RTW Spartan  :wall: Where's the legendary helmet!?

I've always played as the Greeks. Greek mythology influenced my childhood very heavily.
It'd be better if I could play as Athens, but I make do.

300 opens here in UK tomorrow
clock is ticking :2thumbsup:
Lets see how it influences my easily manipulated lil' brain....
Anyone here giving the film good reviews? seems as shallow as a dogs waterbowl, but a fantastically realised bit of art action and man'liness.
I cant wait :beam:

I have played as the Greek Cities for some time now. As I have always been intrested in the Greek Myths and Legends. Also the movie Troy had some input in the desescion on my choice of faction after changing the descr_strat file. I also downloaded the Extended Greek Mod to see if it was as good as they said it was, it was.

Me!! Haha, just got back from watching it, and my god, that film is bloody brilliant!!! :2thumbsup:
Im gonna go start a campaign up now, the only downside is that its gonna take me a while to tech up Sparta to handle recruiting the Spartans!!
Also, may sound a bit random, but i may aswell ask it here, instead of starting up a new post. In ATW, is it possible to edit the factions in (particuarly the Persians!!), much like in the other games? If it is, i know how to do it, but i dont want to try it without confirmation, as im using the Download verison and not the CD (i really wish id waited for the CD version  )
RTR and EB do a better job of representing the Greeks in a more historically accurate fashion.

300 opens today here in South Africa! Can't wait! Will cath it over the weekend.
It really sounds like its a cool movie. In the mean time I am stubbornly ignoring any bad reviews.

Actually, I think by the time of RTW, the Spartans were using that particular helmet, except they wore actual armor instead of the silly dress (at least in Europa Barbarorum). I agree with you though, I still prefer the Corinthian helmet to the "Bronze Bucket."
