In my current Koinon campaign I am currently at war with the Seleukids in the east, the Epirotes in the Balkans/soutth Italy and the Romani north Italy.

Now, I lay siege on Capua and finally take it....and immediately next turn Carthage declares war against me!..altough they are at war against Rome, Epiros and the Seleucids and they were my Allies!!!. I don't share any borders with them (Epiros is in the middle).

I guess Carthage wanted Capua and declared war out of pure envy!!! LOLOL

Anyway, I found this kinda funny.

Its a general and observable trend that the AI considers you the greatest threat and will, in the end ally against you. Its kinda like the theory that world peace can only be achieved if aliens invaded to unit the world against a common enemy. Except in this case, you are the ugly, horrible alien invader. Its gives you that warm, fuzzy xenocidal feeling doesn't it?

There are certainly, provinces/cities that the AI wants, that will start a war.
At times when I am 'pushed' I will avoid taking some places, untill I am ready for the spiteful AI's retribution.

I have encountered this very recently in my Sweboz campaign. I was pushing my empire east to the black sea and wanted to take the rebel town of Olbia (I think that was the provice) to gain the profitable sea trade there.

I beseiged the town, then the Koinon Hellenon, who I was neutral with and had no real political dealing with at all, attacked my army with a hoard of gold chevroned hoplites forcing me to withdraw.

They then immediately besieged the town and sacked it. I guess they really wanted that sea trade too...:inquisitive:
