Is anyone working on shuch a mod? I think it would be a great use of the new animations and i much prefer the smaller scope of a soley Japan based map. You could even fairly easiy have some sort of Mongol invasioon. I only ask becuase it seems like it would be a very popular project but no one seems to be working on it.

Well, I imagine if someone gets a map made you'll get support quite rapidly. There were techniques for making the height-map (which worked in Rome, not sure about MII) which rely on satellite data to get accurate topography, perhaps you could look into that.
Otherwise, making a map would be fairly straight forward and a test version (with only one province and no height data) could probably be finished in a day of solid work.

What was I saying about straight forward?

Hopefully that island is somewhat familiar. Getting that in-game took about an hour and a half, and I'll be adding more provinces soon, seeing as how I've done about as much as I can do for the moment, without the modelling tools, for IW.
If someone has a map of the prefectures at the period which they want the map to be based on could they post it? So far I've put in Tokyo (which is obviously a placeholder name - it should be Edo if we're basing the map in a period any earlier than the Tokugawa) and Sado (which is my favourite of all the islands).
Also, I can do a tilted version (as in Shogun) to avoid the inclusion of Korea, and I can rescale it, as at the moment it is substantially bigger than MII's map.

Prometheus started this but I don't know if it's still being worked on.

That appears to have died, unless they are undertaking development privately. The thread here has only two posts and was started late last year and their forums are... less than savoury.

Well i guess the thing that M2TW models cant be edited kind of killed it.:shame:

Can't be edited yet would be more accurate. Such a hurdle shouldn't destroy a mod when there was also a period with Rome (correct me if I'm wrong) where almost nothing could be modded.

Well this period is getting rather long. Also people like me who were in the team had also other projects to work with and personally i wouldnt have found much sense on starting to do background work for the subject, when i have already done that for similar mod for RTW.
My beef was that when we have not even finished the RTW/Bi version, why should we start a M2TW version.
I dont see anything bad if people want to start a Samurai mod for M2TW. I would be only happy to see one developed. But currently i think its impossible for us before our team have finished our project on RTW/Bi. After that who knows.

I never wanted to imply that your team should do it, and I hope I didn't :) . I just wanted to tell people that I was working, on and off, on a Japan map which I'd happily donate to any team who wanted it further down the track.
