can scots train guns?

i was playing on 1.0 timescale and got bored with them before, can they train guns? isnt in the custom game unit roster

In the late game merc arqubusiers are all over the map.

i'v been playing 1.0 timescale recently, i went back to 2.0, i want guns :smash:

i'm the english now on vh, gonna take the coasts of europe and wait for new world and try to survive without taking many settlements till then...i also modded the end date, so more time with cannons and guns, thats when i'll start pickin fights :beam:

We can only hope one of your enemies will be able to tech up to pikes and personal firearms, as it seems that they're as bad with cash as ever... Umm I don't mean I wish your enemies would be stronger... Wait, yes I mean, but not that... Never mind, you know what I mean.

At least they can use the mercs.

Well, if you want guns, I recommend going muslim. The Moors have wonderful camel gunners, and the turks have Janissary musketeers, who are simply awesome. Egypt has Sudanse Gunners, while not musketeers, they are quite good.

Russia has Cossack musketeers, the best gunpowder in the game.

Janissary Musketeers are IDENTICAL to Cossack Musketeers and you've got much better infantry in the form of Janissary Archers, (stakes), and JHI Backing them up.

Egypt's the Same With Typyrdia, and both have a cheap alternative to their expensive 2-handers in Halberd Militia. Both also get Saracen militia and Turks get Dismounted Saiph's, whilst Egypt gets Dismounted Arab Cav. Saracen Militia are the Equivalent of Armored Sergent's, and Dismounted Arab Cav/Saiph's are second only to papal Guard.

TBH it always confuses me when people Say the eastern faction have poor foot troops. This might be true early on but late on they have some of the best foot units in the game, and these foot units FAR outstrip their HA at this point.

I completely agree, Carl. The turks are my favourite factions for just this reason. At the beginning of the game, I get to play with HA's. at the middle game, I get to use the ottoman infantry combined with HA's and saracen milita. In the late game, I very rarely use more than 4 cavalry units. JHI, saracens, musketeers, janissary archers and ottoman inf makes for such a powerful combo, I don't need cavalry for anything but stopping flankers and chasing...

btw, I've never, ever considered ottoman infantry as archers. They are front line infantry with bows, even though they have lost their axes(sniff!).
