Hi,

I just installed the latest ver of EB on 1.5 RTW as per the instructions.
When I start a campaign everything is normal up until the point where I fight a battle. The first battle goes smoothly but on the next one and all subsequent ones I encounter a speed problem on the battle map only. Specifically the camera movement speeds up significantly as does the movement and fighting of the units (on normal time setting). If I exit the campaign and fight a custom battle the problem persist. The speed comes back to normal only after exiting the program and rebooting the PC.
Any ideas as to what the problem may be ? I play on high visual settings and the highest resolution possible.

Thanks

souns like you are running out of ram. how much ram do you have in your system? or maybe you need to free up some space on your HD or maybe possibly defrag it. running games isn't all about a video card and visuals. there is ALOT going on with the ram,bus speeds, and processor.

also creating more virtual memory will help, there is a guide on how to do this somewhere on this forum.

I have 1 GB of RAM. I've tried uninstalling-reinstalling, lowering setting, etc...
nothing seems to make a difference.
Almost seems as though there's a memory leak since I noticed I'm also getting deteriorating performance while on the campaign map as well after 30 min or so.

So... You're saying speed *increases* on the battle map and *decreases* on the campaign map? That doesn't make sense to me, I have no idea what can fix it. Does vanilla work the same way BTW?

Do you have a dual-core processor? If so, that sounds like the same problem. Just ctrl+alt+del to bring up the windows task manager, go to processes, right click on the RTW.exe, go to set affinity and uncheck one of the boxes leaving one. Unminimize (maximize?) the game and you're ready to go.

Of course if this isn't the problem, then ignore this completely.

Yes I do have a dual core and I remember having had to do that affinity "uncheck" with another game for it to work properly. I didn't consider that for this game, I'll give that a try.

Thanks

Yep, that was the problem, works fine now. Thanks Wonderland for the advice.

Sure. It drove me crazy at first too when I first got my new comp. Imagine dishing out big bucks to get a heavy duty gaming system only to have your favorite game act all screwy. Anyhoo, have fun. :2thumbsup:
