Hi all ive been a semi lurker here for a while and just wanted to post something i had on my mind.
I brought MTW2 on the day of its release here in the uk,and found out what i feared, that my 3 year old pc could barley handle it on the lower levels, and i had to wait a good couple of minutes for each battle to load, which obviosuly ruins the gaming experience some what.
So i went out and got myself a new pc,and reloaded MTW2 and blow me down, the damn thing then kept crashing every few times just like the hordes of other frustrated gamers whos posts i read trying to find a solution.
I tried everything, even opening up my pc and removing the memory cards and moving them about, all sadly to no use.In the end i gave up and took the computer back(damn thing has lots of probs, crashes, heating etc),and decided to go back to RTW on my old pc,and even endure the long loading times of MTW2 of said older pc just to get my fix.
That was untill last week when i again got a new pc,but this time a laptop.I made sure it was a high end one to,and once again held my breath and reloaded the game.
Well guys and girls i have to say,its like playing a different game now,it looks stunning, all set to max,and seems to me to be far harder with me losing numerous battles.
The sieges dont lag at all,and i can now set up 3 armies vs 3 with near full 20 units and it plays fine.I know it sounds like im bragging here, but i am a bit of a miser with dosh, and have only had the one pc before, but thought damn it why not go for it.
What im trying to say i guess,is the way this game is meant to be seen and played is with a high end machine,i have now no load times and a perfectly fun tough game.
In my current campaign i took out with england the scots in a real hard couple of wars, they died hard it has to be said. Then i wiped out the french, but went to quick and over extende myself, which let in milan and spain while i was rebuilding and retraining troops, and thus in a good 15 year period i lost every city i held in europe.
Luckily i went to the americas, and have now after a brutal campaign captured all but one city out there.
Meanwhile back in europe milan got wiped by spain, and they in turn have been knocked back to there original areas by the timuruids who have taking over everywhere bar spain,N.africa and me.
So it looks like i have no chance now,i took a quick peak with a few spys i sent to the middle east, and counted 25 near or full tim armys,i have only 3 full stacks LOL.
Also they have now began to move navy forces around the uk,and i have run into a slight money worrys once again.
Well any way thats my story, and once again i dont want to come across a big head, but damn when played with the right tools this game is stunning.:laugh4:

Damn february/march billing season, I'll have to wait until the summer to upgrade my video card...

Can't wait to see the difference of moving from an integrated card to a semi-high end pci card...

Integrated Card? The horror! Laptop or Desktop? Either way, you are a braver man than me. Maybe there should be a setting for IntegratedSmall in the unit size choices. Something like 5-10 soldiers per unit. :laugh4:

i know what you mean. i'm chomping at the bit to build a new rig at the end of may and return to pc gaming - including cranking m2tw up as high as it will go!
