View Full Version : Can anyone maintain rule over Corduba?
I hate this place. i despise it from the bottom of my Roman loving soul. You can set taxes on low, build temples, build economic structures and sewers, yet those people still turn red and rebel. It never fails, If Carthage still holds onto one piece of Godforsaken desert tween Carthage and Egypt, Corduba will rebel to Carthaginian. What's a Scippi to do? Is there any solution to this royal pain in the arse province? :wall: Thanks,

Hi IceWolf,
I know the place, it's nasty in my camapigns too. If it's not too late then try to bring in a high-influence govenor and train up as larger garrision as possible. Also move the capital closer and place a few spies in the settlement to take out enemies. If it is too late may I suggest that you destroy all settlement stutures in the evil rebelling city of Carthaginian traitors, withdraw all troops and allow them to rebel. Hopefully, with few structures remaining, Carthage should get the city, yet only have a feeble garrision of peasants and poor quality merceneries. Once they have taken the province over you can send a large army in, or a small one even, I once took the place with one unit of Legiondary Cavalry the units were such poor quality, capture it and exterminate the cursed city once and for all to resolve their evil un-happiness! After that you could attempt to re-build the city up using great temples of Saturn followed by moving your capital closer to the settlement to stop such nasty problems of enemy traitors emmerging again! Hope this helps you, cheers!
I never really had a problem with the place. Just put a full peasant garrison there, build and upgrade the Temple of Saturn ASAP, and send a high-Influence governor over if you have any. If Corduba is still giving trouble then try tearing down any buildings that's of a different culture and replace them with your own.

Culture penalty is the single most overlooked influence on public order in RTW. You should be looking to tear down every destructible building you do not plan to upgrade within the next few years. Also, if the settlement is smaller than Huge City in scale, try to increase the population so you can upgrade the governor's building to one of your own culture.
Also, keep at least one spy in the settlement to root out any Carthaginian infiltrators.
I can hold 'em...But I cheat so very harshly to do so with every upstart.

It has always been very high on my "pox on them" -list, I just train a coupe of spies, infect them with plague, and keep them around. When the population starts to rebel, poison their wells... That population deserves little mercy.
