View Full Version : Don't you swear .... at a rock and metal festival

Yeah yeah, something like this has been posted before (I guess), but seriously, those Christians :furious3:
De gemeente Rijssen controleert op het metalfestival Elsrock in augustus op godslasterlijke taal. Eventueel volgt er een rechtszaak tegen de organisatie. Elsrock leidde vorig jaar tot beroering in het streng gereformeerde Rijssen.
The municipality Rijssen is going to inspect on blasphemous language during the metalfestival Elsrock coming August. Possibly there will be a trail against the organization. Last year Elsrock caused commotion in the strictly Calvinistical Rijssen.
Note: If lynching was legal I would already have been dead. I played an away-match in Rijssen 3 years ago, and I tend to swear when things are going bad. My god, those calvinists are frightening.

From the brief part you translated it seems like it's the state that is involved, not a group of Christians. That is, in less you have a Christian theocracy.

It's the Dutch Bible Belt, so it's both.

The brief part is all there is
No it's Rijssen, a very fundamentalistic town, which means that the "government" of Rijssen is that as well. And they would do anything to ban it, but they can't so they now try these things.
It's the same kind of people who wanted to ban Madonna because she crucified herself.
I reall want to go now...

It's the same kind of people who wanted to ban Madonna because she crucified herself. It's a town with 30.000 inhabitants, and a 60% Christian fundamentalist council. They can't stop the festival. I think they can't even sue the festival over the language used, even though they may try on the basis of some old local rule against public blasphemy. By the way, if the festival is so loud that the music washes all over the town, I think local authorities should stop or sue the festival on grounds of public nuisance. They owe that to their town. There are enough other places where they can make their god-awful noise, no need to shake up a little rural community.

And on a similar note have you noticed gigs and festivals try to ban body surfing these days? What IS the world coming to I ask myself.

That's it, you can hear it in the town like you can hear Lowlands in Lelystad. You know it's there, but you don't hear it. And that's what troubles the towns inhabitants.
