I've taken the decision to start work on a total conversion mod for Oblivion, however i've yet to decide upion an idea. I basically want it to be based in real world history so my current thoughts are:-

-Pre-Roman Britain i.e. Celts, large wilderness areas, isolated hill forts etc.
-Post-Roman Britain i.e. Saxons, Angles, Jutes, Romano-British and a few surviving Celts (could be an element of mystery surrounding them).
- Crusades (Kingdom of Heaven sort of Era) - This is currently my favourite idea as the landscape would be totally unlike Cyrodiil.

Anyway since this forum is far superior to any Oblivion counterparts I thought I would ask the org members which they feel would be the best. Obviously it would be a massive undertaking with the need for modellers, texturers, animators, researchers, concept artists etc, so recruitment starts here. Anyone interested?

The post-Roman Britain thing would be quite cool. You'd be able to have nice towns to waltz around in, while at the same time large areas of wilderness.

Thanks for the suggestion Currywurry. I'm still in the process of deciding but I think I probably will go for the post-Roman setting. Any more suggestions and offers of help would be most appreciated.

Creating a total conversion is going to take a huge amount of work. Good luck.

I'm not really familiar with post-Roman Britain, but the potential of the setting - a land consumed in turmoil because the central authorities have abondoned the region - is obvious. There's plenty of potential for intrigue, and plenty of things for a player-character to do - assassinations, manhunting and other mercanary work, solving local problems, getting involved in politics and helping the various factions and leaders rise and fall.

I'd be satisfied with just Romano-British armor for Imperials and Celtic clothing and armor for Nords.

Thanks for the suggestions. It seems that a post-roman setting is the best option. I think that making new clothing, armour and weapons would probably be the best place to start, however I really like the idea of creating a completely new ladnscape that is historically and geographically accurate, especially since I know how to do that. I'll spend the next few weeks planning it all out and will most likely start work on it at the end of April. Progress will be initially slow though as I have exams, and then i'm going to Peru for a month! The middle of August, therefore, will be the start of some real action. Anyway, keep the suggestions coming. Offers of help are most welcome. I shall post a thread on Oblivion Source tomorrow and eventually set up a forum if this thing actually happens.
