Hi Jkarinen,
May I ask what your system statistics are? That would be a much better guideline to go upon than what you can play on what settings. Also, may I note out, that buying eras is pointless if you possess any one of R:TW/BI, S:TW/MI or M:TW/VI - it is much easier and, probably, cheaper, to purchase each game individually rather than re-buying several games more than once. Hope this helps you, cheers!

not true omanes, i had RTW and MTW but still bought eras for the expansions and STW and was still cheaper than them seperately

If you can run Company of Heroes that way (on your desktop computer I assume), then you can play M2TW.
M2 worked for me on my Laptop, which is 2-3 years old and it has no chance of playing CoH.
At least, that's what I think. You'll have to compare the system requirements.
Actually a better thing to do is try the demo.
If you can run it pretty well(medium settings) then you should get it.

Hi again Jkarinen,
Perhaps this (http://www.systemrequirementslab.com/referrer/srl) useful internet program could help you out in making your choice. Good luck, cheers!
I only have one thing to say.

IMHO, I would say that M2TW would be suicide on a laptop with 248 megs of ram. I would recommend getting previous entries in the TW series. I personally have a 2-3 year old PC barely wheezing along with M2TW and CoH
I'de go with the Eras package. It's close to the cost of M2Tw only 10-15 dollars more. You get all the games + expansions. Plus M2TW probably wouldn't run on your computer.

I'm so totally seconding you, Ichigo. And if I'm correct, those "gold edition" are better programmed than the "basic versions". My laptop is three years old. I remember it not being capable of running RTW (tested that in 2004), but the gold edition with BI runs on it!!!

The Gold versions are the same as the previous versions. RTW Gold is simply RTW 1.5 and BI 1.6 bundled together. STW Warlord Edition is STW + MI, and MTW Gold (Battle Collection) is MTW + VI. The only changes are cosmetic ones to the ui and changes to the installers, the game is till the same.
Personally I wouldn't go for the eras package (or whatever it's called) unless you actually want all of the games, or unless you can get it at a bargain price. M2TW is not really an option for you, looking at the spec of that laptop.
I feel compelled to point out another potential issue some people have had with Gold Editions. I don't know how widespread the problem it is, but I know of a few members having difficulites playing online with the Gold Edition. Why this is, I don't claim to know; but it's something you may want to keep in mind if multiplayer is important to you.

Oh yes, it means the latest patched version with it's extension altogether. For the ones like me who didn't started the TW games when they went out, this set's a blessing, I was trying desperately to get the VI extension for myy oldf MTW game, and finally had Shogun AND rome with the extensiosn as a bonus (and could give my old MTW to a friend). Yes, it's not "better programmed", I just had in mind an install of Rome which didn't worked while the gold was working, but I mght have tried to install a prior to 1.5 version at first

It would indeed be expensive if you are looking for one game only, that's right. I think a gold edition can be found for less than 15$?
Around £10 for MTW Gold, and around £20 for RTW Gold. Martok is right about the multiplayer issue as well, though I don't play MP so can't claim to understand the issue fully. The may be an issue, with MTW anyway when trying to play against other non gold players.
