Not sure if this is the place to post this, but here goes anyway.
I have just bought a new computer which came with Vista installed on it, my problem now is that I have installed M2TW and patched it to 1.1 now I, the same as most people I would presume, prefer to use one of the great mods out there that fix the shield and 2-hander issues. But, ain't there always a but, I have tried to install both LTC ans Ultimate AI and the results are the same with both of them, whenever I try to run the mod it runs the basic 1.1 M2TW instead.
I have tried uninstalling the mods and re-installing them and even re-installed the game and patch but no joy.
Can anyone help on this?
Oh, the specs for the computer should be able to run everything on max.
I've had similar problems which were all solved when I deactivated User Account Protection which can be done by any admin in the user account settings and just needs a restart. It somehow blocks almost all overwriting of files without notification. If you don't want that, you can change the user access for each and every file/folder(may work by setting it for all subsequent files and folders, but is still hassle), but I'd personally just deactivate user account protection which should fix your issue.

Vista itself shouldn't have anything against modded content, but it could be the way Vista handles bat's for example. OR, you can fix it by doing just as Husar says, which I believe would be the solution here. ;)
Rather than deactivating UAC (which can be very useful), just set m2tw to run with admin privledges - this should allow it to run as it would under XP and thus work correctly

Tried that but it didn't work, rather than switch it off altogether I think I'll just wait on the patch.
Erm, I had that before, my homebanking program is a 14-day trial and to activate my purchased copy I had to copy a licensing file into the main directory, simple task you may think, not so in Vista.
I copied the file in there and all seemed fine, but the program was still in trial mode. I then gave full access to the file for my user account and tried again, same story. Only when I turned the UAP off completely did it work and the program went to standard mode as it should.
Similar story with my Medieval.preferences.cfg file which consisted of only three lines even after repeatedly starting and playing the game. I just had a look again and it's now full of settings as it should bem, but it was not before I turned the Account Protection off. Turning it off also got rid of thousands of prompts whenever I tried to copy something or whenever a program started another one. Of course that's some nice protection, but I could live without it in XP already and my computer wasn't suddenly full of viruses. And I'm curious whether any patch will ever change that, it's something vista does and not something that has to do with the game, if it was easy to work around by programmers, it wouldn't really stop a virus either.
Just my observations, do what you want with them.:sweatdrop:

I was having the same problems as you Ja'chyra: My Lands to Conquer download wouldn't work with Vista. This was on the twcenter.net forums and fixed my problem:

Your landstoconquer.cfg file contains the following syntax:
[features]
mod = landstoconquer[video]
widescreen=0
[game]
allusers=1
I eliminated the [video] portion to get it to load your mod.
I put [video] on the next line, before widescreen=0, and the mod is working great. I hope this helps because this mod is Awesome!!!:applause:

I done what you suggested and it didn't work so I uninstalled LTC and reinstalled and it worked, don't know why but who cares.

If you try and run Med2 (or Rome for that matter) with Admin priviliges but with UAC turned on, you'll probably want to reset the compatibility mode to the Vista default.
Win XP compatibility mode does a 'shuffle under the hood' to make the app think that it's running with admin priviliges which involves the OS remapping all file in and outputs, and that's probably what's causing the files to seem to go missing.
