I plan on conquering Segesta and Bononia, then stopping for awhile, so i can develop the towns i have recently taken (messena and Syracuse) and try to negotiate peace with carthage somehow, then wait until polybian reforms, then work on the long process of cycling my old troops with my new polybian troops. After that i am not quite sure what to do, I am trying to follow historical expansion of the romans, taking things as slow as i can so that i dont have half the world conquered before the marian reforms.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

(also some suggestions on how to negotiate peace with carthage would be nice, they keep rejecting a ceasefire even if i offer 30000 mnai to them.)

(and just look at the Arche Seleukeia go! annihalating the Ptolemaioi except for one province, i think i am going to dispise them if they manage to conquer Greece.)

EDIT: quick update, ive conquered segesta and bononia and am about to sack carthage to try to get them to lay off from the naval invasions since they keep sending fleet after fleet to corsica)

Watch out for those Seleukids. I'm pretty sure that if they conquer a little bit more, they will be victorious.

Disbanding your Camillan troops in favour of Polybian ones probably isn't the best idea. I would recommend you keeping some Camillan legions, and retrain them in a settlement of which you don't build a new MIC, so that is possible. In others you could train additional Polybian units. It would be quite a shame to disband all those veterans.

As for your next settlement to conquer: Lilibeo. Carthage will only make peace with you when you don't form an immediate thread to their cities, and you only border with Elimya (the province of Lilibeo). Even then I can't promise they will sign a peace treaty, but it will be much more likely. Maybe Krete is a nice option as well, I saw the benefits of it in my latest Romani campaign. It is a great foothold from which you can send expeditions to Asia Minor as well as the Peloponnesos.

A small question that is entirely not related though (:embarassed: ): Is it possible in 0.81a to upgrade your unit development in a settlement with the highest MIC? I read something about that, but can't be sure enough:sweatdrop: . Oh yeah, I'm sorry if my English isn't that correct sometimes.

I would suggest to built up your economy first by taking some key settlements. In the north I would conquer patavium, Segestica (mines) and Massallia (sea trade). Also conquer the 2 islands to your west and take libeo. Then built up your cities, military and so on... until the time is right to strike back.

In my current Romani campaign (VH-H, First cohort mod and BI-exe)

This is +- how I did it:

I always liked the "mare nostrum" principle the romans used and tried to reflect this in my ongoing campaign. Note that I conquered Karalis once, but lost it to the Kart-hadast... a new army is currently laying seige :whip:
