View Full Version : Pre Patch 1.2 Discussion Irrelevant?

Ive been thinking about this a lot lately. Given the fundemental changes to the game that patch 1.2 will make (shield bug and two-handed bug fixed to name two), will this render all previous discussion of the game irrelevant?
I imagine that we will see huge changes as to how we play this game and so will we need new guides? New tactics?
What do you all think?
If it's about previous discussions possibly leading to betterment of the game in the form of a patch, then those discussions have not been irrelevant, though if it'll be the case they will be at least useless in the general sense ('cause certain things would've been fixed: an effective conclusion reached, so the previous discussions can be discarded).
If it's about guides and such, tactics, etc., strategy, gameplay, rewriting or rediscussing might be necessary. Personally I'd just play the game, try out the patch, and see what'll happen.

The first thing I want to see is whether - with shield values being bonuses rather than penalties - units without shields pack the punch to get through their shield-armed opponents. I've just got this strange fear that, even with Billmen able to attack cavalry, they'll not do the damage required. I hope I'm wrong.
alot will be - my strategy when i was playing was just that of expansion - i did not develop anything but artillery and archers - prepatch your highend infantry really is not as important -
when i played rome - i played at a much slower pace - really focused on my infantry development...

Now this brings us to another point. You have roughly half the time to complete M2TW than you did RTW (unless you changed the timescale obviously). Frankly, I can't see how you can complete a M2TW long campaign by doing anything other than "blitzing". This is why I play short campaigns.
You've got more than enough time to complete a M2TW campaign - it's really not an issue.
You got so long for the RTW one because playing as the romans, as intended, you were supposed to get 50 territories then eliminate the two most powerful factions; which would take much longer than any m2 campaign
