are there limitation for RTW treasury?
coz my 4 million gone....:furious3: those 4 million are for the civil war for my fellow romans,if the senate want it.....
it just change to 160k suddenly.......
You people with your 6 and 7 figure treasuries and 50k incomes-I just don't get it. :dizzy2: Is there some "Building a Monster Economy For Dummies" thread/guide somewhere? That's what I need.

But... I... I don't get it. Shouldn't you try to keep your treasury under 50k? You know... to prevent bad traits on your family members. You could remove those triggers, but that would be a mod (some might say it is cheating.)
To get back to your question guineawolf, there could be a limit, but it won't be at 4 million (it doesn't make sense on a PC). If it is a 64 bit number (long int), I don't think you will ever reach the limit.
I have never had this situation before (having 4mil in my treasury as I try to keep it below 50k), but, could you go and check you end of turn report or the financial scroll and make sure you don't have some kind of raging corruption going on?
If it is not that, you might have run into a glitch.

Hi IceWolf,
Perhaps this handy guide's financial section (https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/showthread.php?t=38382) (parts 6 and 5) could aid you in your quest for a huge economy. Good luck with getting a great income, cheers!

Hi guineawolf,
I don't quite know what could have happened there, perhaps the senate investigated you and fined you a large amount of money, or corruption went up drastically. However the former is unlikely as the senate's maximum fine is only 10,000 denarii. Perhaps your army got too large for your own good and started draining your treasury. I just can't seem to find a reson for it. I will however do a few investigations for you when I next have acess to a copy of R:TW. Sorry I can't help you now, cheers!

With a treasury of that size, better make sure you keep those generals on the move....

Why? With a treasury that large, it doesn't matter what traits your generals have. You can afford to buy whatever army you want. Command skills and corruption are nothing once you get to that level.
Personally, I've never had riches like that. I never use cheap peasants for garrison duties, so each city requires about 1500-2000 upkeep in garrison fees alone once they get bigger, plus constant construction and a couple of large mobile armies, and the leftover profit is minimal at best.

Of course, if you do reach the max, then everyone of note in your empire will be more corrupt than the popular music industry. We're talking more opulence than a corrupt Afican dictator's personal collection, feasts large enough to shame Pavarotti, personal harems sufficent to overwhelm the Berlin red light district and (largely as a cosequence of the forementioned harem) more bastards than the entire line of Borgia Popes. Is that really the legacy you want your empire to leave? Really? For the love of God, won't somebody think of the children?! :shame:

Mightilyoats: There are those out there who do subsribe to the 'keep it under 50K' school of thought in order to keep corruption at a minimum. I tend to adhere to this until such time when, with the right provinces and a BOOMING economy, you blow right past the 50K level and are quickly at the 100K level and far beyond. Like the Professor stated, it eventually gets to a point of 'who cares' how much the generals are tippin' the till for? I once ended a campaign with well over 2.5m. Having that kind of cash around really helps to speed up the end game.
Omanes: Like Guineawolf, I too once had a very large sum of Denarii heisted from my coffers. And I mean well over 100K. And until I'm convinced otherwise, I know it was those dogs in the Senate. I was playing the Julii, had become quite powerful and popular with the people, but hadn't quite reached the point yet where they asked me to fall upon my own sword.
RabbitDynamite: The children? Let them pick up the tab - live for now! Heh, heh. ~

This actually reminds me of earlier versions of RTW where if you had a large treasury and forced an AI faction to be your protectorate, that you'd end up losing all your money. Fortunately they fixed that.
Besides economic advice, there's all kinds of good stuff in here. Thanks Omanes, you da sage!

after reading your post,i think i remember. Before i lost that 4 million, the senate has ask me to force an AI faction become protectorate(i pay 100k for it,since i got 4 million, right?),is it becoz of that i lost my money?????
After lurking some time around, and reading quite some good guides/posts on various RTW forums, i too decided it would be cool to baby-sit my governors/generals. In my first long campaign (Julii) i ended up with 2mio denarii unspent and everyone in my realm was utterly corrupt and completely idiotic and unprolific lol.
So, in my current campaign (Brutii) the money is way, way better than in the Julii campaign (the Greek cities are amazingly wealth, all those Ports and Mercury temples....). It is about 220 BC and i already have much more money than i need. I am building everything everywhere, have a huge trireme-fleet which just defeated the oh-mighty Greek Navy off Crete, and 3 full stack armies roaming around. I was thinking, would it be possible to ally myself to a certain faction, say, some rather strong and intelligent faction that actually hates the Egyptians, and make them donations of all my surplus cash? Or even make it be permanent turn-after-turn tribute to them? Would that help them to 'corrode' the Egyptians some? Looks like the Egyptians are the only ones that can actually pose SOME threat to me in the end-game? The situation is again and again very similar to those MTW campaigns where my only enemy left was the Almohad empire.
All in all, after reading the guide on how to breed good Governors (no problem with Generals, i just make the newbies fight some rebels and they get their butts together fast), i am immensely enjoying my 10-management governors and the generous cash flow they make for me. Just conquered Athens a couple turns ago, exterminated everyone, and still, Athene is already making a surplus of 3000+ denarii itself (of corse, the populace is very small, so they dont need to mantain many of my cohorts yet).
Have fun.

It happen again, this time i am playing as Julii faction,my 110k treasury suddenly down to -15552,i check the end of turn report,at the expenditure of Senate Transaction it reads 125702.
at the same time my current stand at senate floor of The Senate is 4 shield(same as old time),but The People now reach 10 shield finally(last time i check before past 10 turns is 9 shield)
are they anyone reach 10 shield at The People and lost their Denarii before????????:furious3:
i face same situation before when i played as Scipii too (i lost my 400M when i reach 10 shield at the people)
Both campaign i do receive message "a chance to power" at 8 shields before i reach 10 shield.........

just nothing, build up your economy, garrisoning your cities with peasant except frontier cities with 3 to 4 archers with 2 hardened warrior(units with high defence, their job is to hold the enemy from get to your archers before they fire all their arrows)example 3 archer auxilia and 2 legion cohorts.
Always get your "back" secure(like Campus Sakae for Scythian) so you won't fight at 2 front(like Nazi German fighting British=West and Russian=East) at once, that also means you need lesser garrison troops(you can use peasant=100 denarii upkeep instead of using legion=210 upkeep)
Using low upkeep troops, like using legion=210 upkeep instead of using Urban cohorts=320 upkeep, using roman cav=110 upkeep and legion cav=140 upkeep instead of using praetorian cav=240 upkeep(played as germania,i loved to use night raiders=130 upkeep instead of axemen=170 upkeep, coz night raiders got more defence)
Since legion oredi can do the job,why use urban?
Always take those wealthy provinces(mostly cities with port,i would suggest greece teritory, make it your base and set the capitol at Athen will be best.when it come to option with building great forum or dockyard,i would suggest building dockyard first =getting more trade route, same as building highway)
always building law buildings(secret network police, temple provide law bonus) at cities that far away with your capitol=cities with more corruption that suck up your income, you will surprise how many denarii go back to your coffer after taking out corruption by build up those law buildings.
this 1 is optional,go east!
why?becoz Colossus of Rhodes(40% Naval trade), Hanging Garden at Babylonia(20% farming income) and Temple Artemis at Ephesus(30% DISCOUNT!!! for religious building).
last, dun build naval force at early and medium game, why?coz only land unit can treathen your city=your supply line.
basic 1,always get trade treaty from every faction(if you can) at start of the game
only produce your troops at cities with highest equipment(foundry?),optional
almost here, hope these will helps, arh 1 more, always keep your expenditure lower than income at least 1k,except your are rich....:2thumbsup:(using limited resources to achieve maximum goals)

If you loose a lot of money from your treasury I suggest you take a look at the graphs.
Turn on the finance/money graph and see if any faction apart from your own has suddenly changed their cash positions. That might confirm if your money has gone to another faction.
