View Full Version : Expansion discussion
Well, some of the proposed features already look quite promising for modding:
- Christians vs Muslims vs Mongols on the Crusades map? This probably means CA has to implement permanent alliances - I just hope they're flexible enough and we can control them through scripting
- Forts with moats and stuff? Maybe we can make forts stay longer on the map or even make them permanent in Kingdoms, and it'd be cool if they had a kind of indexing system for scripting purposes
- Character abilities? If they're flexible enough we can probably do quite a lot with them
- Four campaigns means we'll likely get a provincial campaign system again.
Well, join in and speculate a bit: What else could the add-on mean for us modders?
Another feature: The teutonic order can only recruit their elite units in catholic settlements. This means that settlements will have a religion again or we can check their conversion status in the EDB (or something completely different).

I think CA is heading toward the right direction.
The most features they can give to the development of the strategical side of the game, the better campaigns they can design, bringing to TW also some of the strategical geeks who actually are in love with Paradox games.
Also as the new 3d graphic is considerably harder (but not impossible) to modify with professional results (hehe I still remember the old sprites of MTW) enhancing the scripting part is a good method to keep the modding comunity alive and kicking.
I wish they'd add more scripts and features to control the development of the family trees as middle-age politics were made of persons and dinasties, not countries.
So having commands to arrange marriages, births, title and land inheritances and so on would really be a godsend as it could add a diplomatic side to the game which is what is sorely lacking from the TW series.
The military part is nice but it can become boring if the strategical/diplomatic part is just an excuse to fight battles.
Will be interesting to see how CA will handle Teutonic Order government system. Grandmasters were elected from brother knights who weren't allowed to marry. I guess it could be similar system to Papacy.

I think you can do this now by making faction or group specific AI profiles which stop them attacking particular factions. It would be a cool way to handle the RTW thing of bactria/parthia emerging from seleucid satrapies after x number of turns.

I hope so. I really liked that system and wasted all evening realising it didn't work anymore in mTW2 :)

This expansion brings only good news really :) - unlike BI which only served to worsen Rome's realism.
The multiple-campaigns feature is certainly a boon for IW as well :D .
I'm assuming the expansion will come with new voices (Irish and Welsh accents?).
I hope that the forts etc have an option to be permanent- its how I read the info but that may be more hope than reality.
Now this bit is optimistic but it would be great if they implemented something to sort out ageing and turns v years a bit better. Particularly a turn based event not just a date based one. That would really help.. and would be great in a short (in terms of years) campaign.
And the real fun bit would be an event you could choose options from. That on a short number of years campagn would be superb.
Alas probably too much to hope for but...
