The Tides of Portugal

Portugal was the new kid on the block, they recently attained independance.

Their position is good, a door to the sea, new lands to conquer and a who shall foolishly give away their land from war.

Iberia was troubled, its ways of life were disrupted hundreds of years ago when The Moors invaded, and thye soon took a bit of Iberia. But a army kept going and invaded France. They were beaten. This started years of wars in Iberia, as thousands of soldiers from countries around EUrope rushed to Iberia to save it from the invaders.

But soon it was over, all withdrew except the Moors and Rebels. The other peoples were left to deal with the invaders. But soon a King rose from the masses and declared himself King of all Spain, and he gained rule over Galicia,Leon and Castile.

But portugal gained their lands, and soon there was three nations fighting for Iberia. Spain,Portugal and The Moors. And so starts the days, when the tides of portugal may wash over Iberia, or be swept back into the sea.

King Henrique
Titles: King of Portugal, Governer of Lisbon.
The King is gifted in the ways of the CHurch, and gets alogn well with the Papal States. All love him as a leader, and he doesn't mind war.

Prince Affonso
Titles: Heir to the Portuguese Throne, Commander of the Main Army of portugal.
The prince is also a religous man, at 19, and is very smart on and off the battlefield. he is loyal to the King.

Count Johao of Portugal
Titles: Count of Pamplona, General of thhe 2nd Army of Portugal.
His land lies on the far side of Iberia, Lisbon and Pamplona are divided by Spanish land. He is loyal to the Throne, and is probably the best General of portugal.

CHapter 1


1080 AD, The Lands of Iberia, The DIary of King Heinrique



The year started out with bad crops, plagues and war. The Nobles despair, the inferiors move further into Iberia, burning Our Portuguese People and our SPanish Brothers. Brothers? Hardly, they shall stab us in the back when they can.

I hope Pamplona cna hold out, beign so far from Lisboa, but even Lisboa is poor, Portugal is still young though.

This year I sent out the orders to my SOn, the Affonso, to attack The Moorish Capital, I fear for him every day. If only he followed my commands, he is too young and rash. If only he could follow commands like his sister, she follows all of my instructions, as any Prince or Princess should.

I sent Maria to The Moors today, to discuss Diplomatic Peace, I hope they fall for the trick, the distraction. But they, rudely, did not let her into their Castle, I shall kill them just for that! So I sent MAria to those SPanish Rabble, and they are still dicussing events, I hope she comes back soon, I feel ever so old and lonely.

Now to finish my thoughts, as shall not be able to write in this diary for a while. There are many in Portugal unloyal to the Catholic Church, we are to root them otu and either convert them or kill them.

I have lsited all my orders below, and have instructed my Historians to keep a record of Portugal's History.

the Kingdom is in slight turmoil, all are worried about either Moorish Invasion, or Spanish Invasion.

Several heretics are undercover, ready to spring forward and convert the People of Portugal, of course the King thinks they want the Crown. They could be right, as reports have come in of Assasains around, though no ones told the King for some reason...

Anyway, the Prince, Affonso, and the First Army of Portugal, headed towards the Moorish Capital today.

The Kingdom is on the brink of a new age I think, and we are stuck in a whirlpool of new things.

Oh! Some more news, several units have attacked Zaragoza, a worthy add-on to our Kingdom, though it is not ours yet. I wonder who is to take it?

I feel it better to contact you this way, as my advisors tell me it is a dangerous journey from Lisbon to the forests of Portugal. But I give you commands.

You and the army are to head towards Cordboda, secreatly under the cover of night and trees. And you are to ready for siege.

As of now, I wish to visit you, but my advsiros recommend me to stay here.

Dear SIster,

Father is acting fo strange lately, and his advisros control his life. I hope nothigns wrong...

I am to head out towards Cordboda, are you there yet? My messenger should be travellign fast around the Moorish COuntryside, I am sure Father misses you.
