in this link under the headline artistic legacy are two images of cultural transmission from greece through the greco-indian buddhist kingdom to buddhist japan. one starts with heracles and the other with a wind god. and one can see the obvious similarites between the different representations.

The guidebook entry concerning Japan's about first and oldest surviving Buddhist temple in Nara makes a point of noting the still obvious Hellenic influences in the design of the support pillars. Thanks to EB, I was able to promptly play connect-the-dots with Bactria and its legacy on the spot. :beam:
