View Full Version : Org Newspaper: Gahzette, April 2007
The first issue of the Gahzette, the Org's very own newspaper, has just been released.
The Gahzette reports on a wide variety of subjects from the nuts and bolts of modding the TW games to what's going on in the Tavern, and almost everything in between.
This issue's feature article is a report on how to get the most out of your graphics card in Medieval 2: Total War, so if you've got that game, it's an absolutely essential read.
There are also interviews with modders, commentary on the babes thread, and discussion of forums you've probably never heard of - so what are you waiting for? Grab it, and have a read!
Comments are encouraged - please post up any issues/suggestions that you might have - and we're still looking for reporters, so if you're interested, pm me.
Enjoy

May I be the first person not affiliated with Tha Gahzette to say wonderful job. It was a very good read, and I liked how it flowed. Keep up the good work.

its awesome, love the layout, pictures and colums!
Looks nice, I will give it 8/10. Just a suggestion, the index at first page will be nicer if they are arranged in page order therefore giving easier time. Other than that, everything looks pretty good ~:thumb: :medievalcheers:
Ah - for those who don't know, you can click the second icon down on the left hand side of the page in reader to open the 'bookmarks' tab - the index is arranged in page order there
Thanks for the tips  Anyway, another suggestion, you might want to change the title thread to something like Gahzette - The Guild Official Newspaper - or - .org Newspaper - to attract more people, because many new members might have no idea what's Gahzette all about? Let alone opening this thread ~;)
ha, TinCow, that was a hilarious writeup on Castles!
Very well done indeed everyone - great info, nice writeups. This could be a great resource for showing the Org off to folks outside it. Any plans to publicise the Gahzette's existence?

GREAT work guys. :2thumbsup:
Just a minor nitpick, but the latest game was Mafia VI, not IV.

pevergreen explained that by saying he was just using titles of old games. Or it could be a genuine mistake. I dunno.
@Tran - I'll get a mod to do it
@GH - that's my mistake - I obviously didnt' read pever's draft carefully enough when I was paraphrasing him ~:(

Any of that section was my stuff? I know i did the side article and the main one on that page, i thought the rest was GH's.
Good edition guys :2thumbsup:
GH's work was italicised ~;)
I did half of that section - the column was mainly yours
It was an 11th hour addition tbh ~:)

Excellent job to all. :2thumbsup: I like the PDF format and all the graphics. I also like that it is "meaty" - not something I can read in one sitting. Keep up the great work.

That would've been sweet! ~D
On a more serious note, hopefully the next patch for Medieval 2 will be out in time for you guys to write about how effective it is at improving the game.
Or (and I hope I don't have to) about how it failed completely ~;)
Thanks for all the comments
Any suggestions for articles?
Maybe about the Gameroom, and how fun it is? And try to get people too join.
Maybe a ranking of the top 10-20? babes in the Babe Thread.

Perhaps a recurring section with a short blurb about the real life of some historical figure from our gaming period(s)? Kind of a monthly factoid type of thing...

No spam there. Hitting me for no apparent reason, how rude.
Why not spam the Gahzette? Most of 'em are vikings anyway (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wZ7YedEopp4&mode=related&search=).
The article on graphics settings was particularly helpful. Thanks!

I could write an introduction to the backroom, if you guys wanted. It'd probably mainly stress the rules and gentlemenly behavior one should try to adhere to in order to provide a comfortable atmosphere for reasoned discourse.
Why, back in my day, we just had the tavern - none of this front and back-room stuff! And we had to wait five minutes for our modems to load the site! [/geezer]

Camels and Senior Members, isn't that the same :inquisitive: ?
sapi, what about part-time or "guest" reporters?
I'm just thinking of the Main Hall: It doesn't always have something newsworthy going on all the time, but now and then there's events that may be worth making available to a wider audience (progress made on a MTW mod, a particularly epic AAR, etc.). I don't know how well that would fit into the Gazette's setup -- if at all -- but I thought I should at least bring it up.
Camels and Senior Members, isn't that the same :inquisitive: ?
Hey, I resemble that remark! :egypt:
Martok, there's no need for reporters to write something each week; so that should work fine
Very nice! Good effort, good content.
Definitely brings The Org. up a notch. :sunny:
I could write humor every now and then when you have time for it.
Sorry, I lost the link to this thread. :P
PM me if you're interested. I could send you something next month if you'd like.
