After defeating the romans and totally crushing their Republic, I had the idea of adopting the camillan quinquunx formation and making some changes, so it fits the Carthaginian unit roster better. These are my plans (always have in mind that its not completed yet. I want it to be modular, but this is how I use it now):
S:Skirmisher (not yet included in-game, will be slingers mostly)
1:Front line (Hastati at the moment)
2:Second line (Heavy Lybian Spearmen)
3:Third Line (Heavy Lybo-Phoenician Hoplites at the flank, Samnitici Milites central)
4: Fourth Line (Elite African Swordsmen)
A:Archer
C: Cavalry (Misthophoroi Hippeis and Equites Romani, one unit of Sacred Band Cavalry)
G:General
E: Elephants
SSSS SSSS
1111 1111 1111
CCCC CCCC 2222 2222 CCCC CCCC
3333 3333 3333
EEEE GGGG EEEE
AAAA 4444 AAAA
Makes exactly 20 units. Standard Quinquunx with the following exceptions:
The 2 outer units of Cavalry move out to bind enemy skirmishers or cavalry. If that is done and the enemy hits the first line, elephants and the inner 2 units of Cavalry move arround the flank and hit the enemy in the rear.
It isn't complete yet, so please post suggestions for the tactic and the initial employment, such as which units could replace which one (when fighting in Gaul, I cant refresh my Romans and Africans, so I will have to rely upon Iberians, a few Romans and native Celts, especially Gaesatae)
So please post your opinion.
Edit: Argh, crap that stupid forum always messes up my employment, does someone know a way to fix that?
