I have been looking over some screenshots of the game (these might be in the older versions of EB, and if so, please post), and I have seen alot of Roman character names (Generals, Diplomats, Spies, etc..) have a "V" in their name instead of a "U". (Example: Marcus Junius Brutus , but in screenshot, Marcvs Jvnivs Brvtvs) :inquisitive:
Has this problem been solved? Since I haven't installed the newest edition of EB yet, I have no way of knowing, so please post without newbish hate (AH! Don't hurt me!)
Thanks.

Every "U" has been changed to a "V" for all Romans. There was no "U" and the "V" character was used for the "U" sound. Just part of latin. All "U"s are "V"s any "U"s in a Roman name would be a typo.
Also Latin didn't have a 'lower case'...

We have a system in place here. It is as Marcus explains, but further: in "titles", we use the form that the Romans would have put down on paper/stone. Marcvs Avrelivs Antoninvs. Granted that we decided against all caps - our members just could push the buttons to vote for that. So you see names like that one, and building titles like Circvs Maximvs or something. BUT when it comes to using the words *in* English text, we can't maintain that system, because that's not how you pronounce 'v's in English. So we switch back over to the 'u's. It basically just takes our rendering of the names one step further than standard English formatting of Latin, when it comes to the names sitting there by themselves - as "titles".

Oh....wow, you guys really did put in that extra historical oomph.
Well, now that I know it's not a bug, and instead, a historical piece of research, I feel much more comfortable with the Roman names.
On a further note, I would personally like to congratulate the developers, researchers and other staff of EB for basically re-creating RTW into a great, unsurpassable real-time strategy game. Oh, and thanks for the fact it's FREE! YAY!
Thanks again. (I'll go hide in my newbish corner now....):book:
