medieval2.exe --game.unlimited_men_on_battlefield is supposed to be the command line to trigger this, but it gives me a fatal error on startup every time. Has anyone gotten it to work?

People have gotten it to work. The fatal error that you are encountering is probably due to some error in editing that you made. If you had made backups, get the original files back up or do a clean install if you can't fix your error

Open your medieval2.preferences.config file in notepad and make the changes there - the shortcut is more trouble than it's worth.

If you want to persist, make sure that the parameter (ie unlimited_men...) is outside the quotation marks

You're right, this was much easier. Thanks.

Sorry but what does that do exactly ?

First time I hear of anything like that... :inquisitive:

What it says on the box - it removes the restrictions of the number of men on the battlefield in campaign battles

So if I understand correctly, you could go above the 20-unit stack limit ?

Whoaa....!!!

No

What it does is remove the restriction on the number of men that is automatically generated based on your system specs, so you never get the 'reinforcements delayed' message that makes winning some battles so easy

Thx Sapi...

One more question : How do you edit that variable in your config file ?

Is it already in or do you have to add it ?

It's already their, just change the value from 0 to 1.

How much of an impact does this have on performance?

It's not insignificant but it decreases as you kill off their men :grin2:

I play with it on just out of principle - I don't want to wind up facing only half of their forces thanks to the game's idea of what my computer can handle

Oh cool this option is a godsend!
