Hi guys, I just reached the Victory conditions in my Denmark Campain and looking at my family tree it's quite amazing that I have managed to keep my kings all on the left hand side of the family tree! with the VnV's fix I have used, I've actually managed to find princesses with decent amounts of charm and married them to my faction heirs and as a result my latest princes firstborn is Danish part English, part Polish, part German and part Sicilian! I was wondering if anyone else has had such luck with their family tree, or to keep the family tree on the left hand side have they been marrying within the family only? :dizzy2: :inquisitive: I've only married relatives once or twice to keep the line going when I couldn't find any decent princesses elsewhere :laugh4:
If you guys want to take a look, here is my family tree in my current campaign!
and yes it is rather messy on the right hand side of the tree but thats because I also adopted a few generals.

I personally like the way Milan's family tree tends to work out.

I try so hard to maintain my bloodlines but it never works out. The pink mafia must have a strong presence in medieval Europe b/c no one ever wants to get married or have kids...all they want to do is "adopt" their male friends.

I actually generally fair pretty well with the whole pure bloodline, as long as I don't mind a little inbreeding now and then (then again, neither did the real European monarchs).

hehe no kidding! it definetly did happen no matter how strange it was, although royal families are strange so they probably thought it was normal. This is the first time I've managed to keep all my kings on the left hand side though. And if anyone wonders why king robert of england and my generals english wife died int he same turns its because I destroyed the english faction then when they betrayed me :P

So, are you guys saying it's a good idea to decline all the adoptions? how can you prevent man of the hour events as well? wouldn't you run pretty thin on family members?

Generally I decline ALL adoptions, unless I have a princess around to instantly marry them to. Man of the Hours are ALWAYS accepted on my part, and when the next available princess comes along, I marry her to him. Long story short, they all eventually find their way into my family tree.

Would also like to point out that the more you inbreed the family tree, the less likely it is that they will have children. Also, in the more extreme cases it causes hits to Command, Tax Income, and Authority:
A Bit Odd = Decreases chance of having children
Of Dubious Lineage = Decreases chance of having children
Woefully Inbred = -1 command, -2% Tax, decreases chance of having children
Spawn of Incest = -2 Command, -2 Authority, -10% Tax, decreases chance of having children
Betrothed to Mother = -3 Command, -3 Authority, -15% tax, named "The Idiot"

I decline all adoptions too, and normally decline man of the hours unless I have a beatiful but lonely princess or I need some more generals around to protect my land. I think the quality of Man of the Hour is generally better than adoptions (along with the age ) but sometimes they aren't worth it. You can decline man of the hour events, and you will never run out of family members, try your hardest to do so. You will always get adoption offers or man of the hour stuff if you are really running low. I just wish I could marry the females in the family tree that don't become movable princesses, without adoptions so I could marry them to family members and such.
Hehehehehe, I haven't gone to inbreeding in the extreme so fortunately haven't gotten those traits yet, I do wonder what the triggers for those traits are though.
