After playing MTW2 since Christmas, I suddenly felt like playing RTW again :2thumbsup:
Because I got download speeds of only around 5kb/s when trying to download RTR, I decided to try another mod, and downloaded EB.
And well, it looks like I won't play MTW2 for a long time :laugh4:

The great skins, the enormous ammount of units, higher defense & morale, etc, really make the battles a lot of fun :)

What I like most is that it's now possible to recreate anient battles & tactics (wasn't possible in vanilla because the enemy would often rout before you even had time to flank him)

Was surprised to see how well the Macedonian combined arms tactic works. :smash:

I just put the phalanxes in a single line, with the mobile Agrianians on the left flank, to prevent the phalanxes from being flanked.
The Companion Cavalry & Thessallian Cavalry were on the right side, to hit them enemy from behind as soon as they'd be pinned down by the phalanxes.
The Agyraspidai & Pheraspidai served as the joint between the phalanxes and my cavalry (to prevent the cavalry from being separated from the rest of my army, and to prevent the phalanx from being outflanked on that side)

Thanks for creating this great mod :2thumbsup:

Glad you are enjoying it Roy. Hope you can still enjoy some smaller armies in your campaign though - that custom battle lineup is not something you're likely to see within the first decade at least, with our finances being a bit tougher.

lol, to raise that army would require at least a well-developed Greece and no other armies in the field.

I noticed that already
As soon as I noticed how much fun the battles in the campaign were (compared to vanilla/other mods I've played), I immediately went to play some custom battles to test some tactics and stuff.

It may be smart to use a full stack of elites but I don't know if I would call it tactical :P But from the screenshot I see you enjoyed the carnage and I must say that is a gross outcome.

Yes, this is a really really fine mod. And it's amazingly stable for a pre-1 rev. (knocks on wood)

I hadn't realized how much different the battles are from vanilla until I read this. The lethality drop really does make a difference. There is indeed much more time for tactics to actually develop. I'm still adjusting. I need to learn to trust my battle line more and scurry about trying to rush my flankers into place less. They have time.

Very nice work on all of it. Don't take any criticism in the form of pointing out things I suspect are not intended as anything other than constructive.
