my rome total war is acting up tried the patches etc but just keep having CTDS on both barbarian and RTW. anyway was wondering which to purchase i have all the other total war games but was wondering if its better to purchase gold and more importantly does it run straight from the box without having to patch it up again to version 1.5 1.6 [RTW/barbarian invasion] i have tried to reinstall original game with expansions and patches but to no avail. the lag i had last night with hardly any units made the game unplayable.

so is the gold version fully patched up . sorry for the long winded question.:help:

I have the Eras boxed set. Several CDs in it. One of the CD's has both RTW (V1.5) and BI (V1.6). No patching necessary. Works very well. As it installs it calls itself the Gold edition. Makes me think the gold edition sold separately will be the same.

Ive not used the other Eras disks except a bit of Alexander (V1.9)

You dont get MTW2 in Eras..despite the artwork on the box suggesting you do. Dont let that alone tempt you to buy eras at full price. Its a big marketing con. You might do better to buy only the games you really want. Think Gold is out on budget now.

I bought Gold for about $15 recently. I knew about Era's too, but it's too expensive. Besides only RTW and BI really matter.

Yes, the triple is fully patched like the Gold version.

I don't know if its available elsewhere, but for UK people: http://www.game.co.uk/ViewProduct.aspx?cat=10404&mid=330510

Play.com are selling Total War Eras for £17.99. I would be tempted myself, but I own the other games anyway, except for the Alexander add-on. Still, that's a great price.

playing as the greeks at the moment [original game ]and its been pretty stable since i re,installed it. i wont take the other back as i always tend to have an extra of copys of games [sudden strike for instance.] especially as i have seen the damage my seven year old has done to his PS2 games. i suspect he has had his hands were they shouldnt be. will have to set the mouse trap up in the cupboard to catch sticky little digits me thinks.:idea2: ~;)
