Thus ends Clyde, my woman's dog.

Eight year-old Black Lab, the quietest and most humble dog I have ever known, he died, peacefully, of internal sicknesses last night. A last quiet growl at at the world and he passed from here to there.

My woman, devastated, left with the kids while I dealt with the logistics of his corporeal remains. We await a thawing of the ground to give him a proper final resting place in the backyard.

He wasn't my dog, but he was a good dog. Now he joins Beirut and all of your dogs that have gone to the Great Gig in the Sky.

No condolences to me, please, my dog is long gone and there is room in my heart only for him. Let us, gentlemen, raise a toast to the life and memory of all our dogs.

To the dogs!

On a happier note Mrs Apache and I decided to heal our broken hearts and have this very afternoon purchased a Golden Retriever X Samoy. A 12 week old ball of white fluff we have named Piper.

It won't replace George our loved and lost old pal, but it will help us to keep our grief in perpective.

I will send my condolences by proxy to Mrs. Beruit. My thoughts are with her. Now they can all make friends in doggy paradise. :beam:

Tough, you have my sincere condolences anyway. We lost our last dog 2 years ago, had to have her put to sleep. It was amazing though, she lived to be 13 years old, was diabetic and had severe epilepsy, and couldn't walk because of hip displacia (sp?) at the end. It was the right thing to do. My fam has had all Golden Retrievers with the exception of one black lab, and the ones that have passed on have lived to be in mid teens.

Here's to our old fuzzy friends who've left us, our current fuzzy friends, and fuzzy friends yet to come. ~

:balloon2:

Edit - The fuzzy golden pig would like to say Hi!

God, why do threads like this always get me the way they do. I can watch human suffering hardly caring at all, but please not the animals. gah. Sorry for your loss, losing a good pet, even if it wasn't really yours, is always a pain.

To Clyde, and all the good dogs here and beyond.

Irreplaceable. Mourned and cherished. I will take a moment to remember some good times of my own past in a small tribute.

My heartfelt condolences to Mrs Beirut.

Condolences to Mrs. Beirut, losing a member of the family is hard to accept. However, I'm sure my beloved Shadow & Apollo will welcome a new friend to play with.

To dogs! Man's greatest companions.

Come on people, this calls for a group hug ~:grouphug:

I know that when I lose my dog it will be very hard for me, but that is still many years away I hope.

I've never had dogs, but I know that if anything happened to one of my cats, I'd be devastated. I hope Mrs Beirut feels better soon.

And I thought I'm the only one who can stand human suffering but will be psychologically marked forever when he sees animal cruelty...

To Clyde and his newly found friends, up there, in Doggy Heaven. ~
