I made the mistake, about a month ago, of buying R:TW. I say it was a mistake because I am a senior at the college of mechanical engineering at Wichita state university. I am in the middle of two major projects, one being my senior project, both of which I must complete before I can graduate (which is supposed to happen in May). From the moment I installed R:TW, I've been somewhat obsessed.
I spent a good part of spring break playing the stupid game instead of working on my projects.
Then, the other day, I was looking for stuff on the web related to R:TW, because I'm a bit obsessed, and happened to run into a site that recommended two mods to "fix" certain historical inaccuracies in the game.
My interest peaked, I, of coarse, neglected my school work and downloaded both R:TR and EB, made two copies of my folder so that I could continue to play the original (if the mods weren't any good), and R:TR and EB.
I've spent a very limited time (about 3 hours per each mod - a little more in EB than R:TR) because I DO have homework to do, playing these MODS.
I don't think I'll ever play the "out of box" version again. I really just don't see the point. R:TR is nice and all and to be fair, I installed EB first and played it more, but I like EB better.
I will probably play R:TR when/if I tire of EB but at this point, EB appears to be the better of the two mods.
You guys did an awesome job. I love the ambience of the cloth looking emblems for each of the factions, the period/faction correct names, the fact that building/units are more historically correct (although, they could be wrong as in R:TW and I wouldn't have known had I not read up on it), etc.
I must keep my head down and get my degree; it would be quite embarrassing to tell my family/friends/wife that I failed to graduate because I got addicted to a game. But after I graduate.......ROME WILL RISE AGAIN (on my computer at least). Then I think I'll try to carry on Alexander's dream of a new world order through the descendants of one of his most faithful generals. Out of Egypt an empire shall rise....
Anyway... GREAT JOB guys.
