About to post it you evil man! http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/tongue.gif
"MdP: We've been working on Medieval: Total War since the end of Shogun: Total War, which was almost a year and a half ago, and we're just getting to the fun--and sometimes frustrating--stage where the gameplay is coming together. All the pieces are in place, the campaigns, the battles, the sieges and the units, and it's now a case of getting the gameplay, balancing, and polish of the game spot-on and ironing the bugs out. "
Hot dog! Oh my goodness! Am going out of my mind!

I posted it before I read the article. http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/tongue.gif
It seems like EA was going to promote M:TW the same as Shogun, but Activision is going to have it has one of there top titles.
Here is the quote I like best
"Medieval: Total War uses an updated version of the Shogun: Total War engine. The main advantage of this is that it lets us focus on feature additions and gameplay rather than on R&D. The most noticeable new feature in the engine is the addition of artillery and the ability to destroy castles. Also, the graphics engine has been given a significant overhaul. The battlefields and the units are distinctly more detailed and varied than in Shogun: Total War. The other major technical improvement that's gone on under the hood has been made to the AI and the combat system.
Also, upgrading the engine has allowed us to include a much greater variety of battlefields and terrain types, from English villages and eastern deserts to southern Mediterranean countries, which gives you a much stronger sense of where you are fighting within the gameworld, and they look absolutely lovely.
In terms of the AI, which is the heart of the gameplay, the computer now has a whole range of new tactics to use in battle, and the combat calculations are significantly more detailed. This leads to some very cool effects that make a real difference in the gameplay. To give you just a few examples, cavalry charges now smash into and carry through enemy ranks, formations of men can push enemies back out of position, which reduces bottlenecks at bridges and gates, knights can get impetuous and charge into battle, and shields are calculated to provide defense only from the front. I think that we're getting even closer to capturing the spirit of Sun Tzu's Art of War."

You both beat me to it!!!!!!! http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/biggrin.gif
Hey but thanks guys for posting it!!!!!!!!
Since i have been beaten, i guess i will go and read it completely
Cavalry charging through ennemy ranks!!!!
Formations of men pushing enemies back out of position at gates and bridges!!!!
Impetuous knights not following orders and charging into battle!!!
Shields are calculated to provide defense only from the front!!!!!
Working on the game for a year in a half and "All the pieces are in place, the campaigns, the battles, the sieges and the units, and it's now a case of getting the gameplay, balancing, and polish of the game spot-on and ironing the bugs out."
Now my expectations are so high!!!!! I think the game will be available sooner than later..

I am psyched to see this in action. Always wished the cavalry could sweep through the ranks of SAs and decimate them.

Like the screen shot "princess becomes spinster" - hope this really goes into the detail that EU does like that screen shot implies - treaties, edicts, events - I want it all. Like also the RPG aspect they imply. Siege engines look neat too. Lot of screen shots there.
All told going to be cool.
Wonder if this will cover 30 Years War Period.

No
I'm trying hard not to get caught up in the hype, but I must admit that it looks pretty darn impressive!
Hopefully, the Total War franchise has only just begun.

I'm thinking this charging through thing units is going to result in a lot of dead Knights when the gaps close behind them, especially if Knight's are impetuous, I'll certainly deploy with some tempting weak spots surrounded by guys with Spears and can openers...

I think what they mean is like what happent in the battle in Braveheart when the fronts got out of formation and they were fighting 1v1 somethimes not like units.

I really do hope the cavalry charges are impressive as they sound... Imagine, we can actually BREAK enemy formations now! Wedges will actually be effective for reasons other than an arbitrary bonus! The guys in back won't get bored waiting to fight anymore! http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/biggrin.gif
